Gabriel Josipovici va néixer a Niça el 1940. Va viure a Egipte de 1945 a 1956, any en què va arribar a Gran Bretanya. Es va graduar en Llengua anglesa i va ser professor a la Universitat de Sussex fins 1998. Es un dels més prestigiosos escriptors anglesos contemporanis, tot i que la seva obra de ficció ha estat durant molt de temps ignorada per ser un autor catalogat com "merament experimental".
