Julio Rodríguez (Oviedo, 1971) trabaja como profesor de Psicología Social en la Universidad de Oviedo. Es autor de artículos académicos, guiones de cine y televisión, libros de poemas y novelas. Tiene dos hijos y un sombrero. Entre sus obras, además de ésta, destacan: El mayor poeta del mundo (2005, Premio Vargas Llosa de Novela), Naranjas cada vez que te levantas (2006, Premio Emilio Alarcos de Poesía), El vuelo de la monarca (2011), Doméstica (2011, XVI Premio de Poesía Ciudad de Mérida), Tierra batida (2013, XLV Premio Internacional de Poesía Hermanos Argensola) y Una mala racha (2016). Recientemente ha sido galardonado con el XXIII Premio Internacional de Poesía "Antonio Machado en Baeza" por su obra Una extraña ciencia.
