Publisher's summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, a special gift edition of Edgedancer, a short novel of the Stormlight Archive (previously published in Arcanum Unbounded).

Three years ago, Lift asked a goddess to stop her from growing older—a wish she believed was granted. Now, in Edgedancer, the barely teenage nascent Knight Radiant finds that time stands still for no one. Although the young Azish emperor granted her safe haven from an executioner she knows only as Darkness, court life is suffocating the free-spirited Lift, who can't help heading to Yeddaw when she hears the relentless Darkness is there hunting people like her with budding powers. The downtrodden in Yeddaw have no champion, and Lift knows she must seize this awesome responsibility.

Best Of The Stormlight Archive!

Edgewater is an incredibly riveting story circling my favorite surgebinder! I love the first two books a lot, but this one was platinum!

Awesome and short

Really great to get these little novellas that can be finished in a single road trip and be Sanderson through and through! Highly recommend you read this prior to Oathbringer but not necessary.

Worth it!

With the other novels in this series so long, I thought the shirt length of this novella might not be worth it, but I love Lift so much; absolutely worth the credit!

Awesome book

This is a really good book and a nice little break from all the other ones. It has really good characters and if anybody doesn’t like it they’re either crazy or just Starvin stupid.

Made me laugh

A quick, yet likely a very helpful and informative read. It made me laugh a few times. I liked it. I’m excited to dive into Oathbringer

Don't buy this, buy Arcanum Unbounded

Arcanum Unbounded includes this short novel along with 8 others. So it's best to buy that so you have the other stories if you get into his other book series.

LIFT!

Lift is one of my favorite characters, ever. Her teenage attitude and verbiage is spot on. I crack up almost every time she speaks! Can Not Get Enough!

Do not forget those overshadowed

Once again the creative Guinness of the Storm writer is splendidly narrated in these pages as they flash in the most unexpected ways!

Good story, great reading, fills in some gaps in the series!

I listened to this novella after already listening through books 1-4 of the Stormlight Archive. I went with just the title novels for my first listen through, and on my second run I’m including both Edgedancer (book 2.5) and Dawnshard (book 3.5). I have to say that Lift isn’t one of my favorite characters from this series, but she is one of Brandon Sanderson’s, and you can tell that by how much fun he had writing this story. Lift has so much personality, wit, and general mischievousness it’s hard not to like her the more time you spend with her. Having listened through Stormlight (as of what’s available in 2023) without including Edgedancer, I wouldn’t say it’s strictly necessary for someone looking to enjoy the main series. That said, I would certainly recommend it for fans of Stormlight, as it does provide some interesting additional info on characters, places, and themes! Plus, if you’re able to shrug off the 220 hour main story, what’s another 8 going to hurt?
