Publisher's summary

Marooned on a deadly alternate Earth, Colonel Lewis Cayce and his soldiers find themselves outnumbered and outclassed in this riveting new adventure set in the world of the New York Times bestselling Destroyermen series.

After being stranded on a very different and more perilous Earth, Colonel Lewis Cayce led his small army of displaced Americans, natives of the Yucatán, and Jaguar Warriors to defeat the biggest host the Dominion general Agon could assemble. Most unexpectedly, General Agon came to recognize the inherent evil of the Dominion and its depraved Blood Priests and turned on his former leaders.

Awkwardly at first, Lewis Cayce and Agon join forces to press their common enemy back toward the dark heart of the Dominion in the Great Valley of Mexico. But more Dominion troops have been drawn from the west to stop the Allied march on the Holy City, and a grueling race has begun. Worse, the Gran Cruzada—a vast Dom army that was marching on the far Californias to eject yet another heretic foe—might’ve already been recalled to face Cayce’s soldiers.

Time has become more precious than ever, and before Lewis Cayce can even try to implement his plan for total victory, he and his force must brave their greatest challenge yet—a brutal fight against a larger, better-trained army whose commander has a gift for strategy to rival Cayce’s own. The struggle to keep all his soldiers alive, new friends and old comrades alike, will test Cayce like never before, and, win or lose, nothing will be the same.

Incredible story line !

Taylor Anderson has become one of my top 5 living authors ! I’m extremely gladdened by audible for choosing to let me listen to his stories ! This means I can perform mundane chores while listening to his great works . It’s my hope that he will continue to write as many books in this series as his last . Which I chose to listen to a second time one after another .

You are there

Characters who feel real, exotic settings, grim battles... what's not to like? I love how a bunch of 1840s soldiers basically take the place of the Conquistadors in our timeline, recruiting oppressed locals to fight the "Aztecs".

Hard start but settled in to be a good book

Wasn’t crazy about the narrator but the book was good. It was a slow start but came together after a few chapters.

the detailed battle descriptions are extremely accurate.

I'm very much drawn to Taylor Anderson's ability to bring his characters to life. They're very easy to see as real breathing people.

A very inventive series

I really like the world built here along with the characters and storyline. This is one of those series that really gets involved between all the moving pieces

Keeps getting better!

I have listened to the entire Destroyer men series and loved it and was expecting this series to be somewhat less for some reason, but I’m stupid. This series is outstanding.

A land based version of the Destroyer Men Series

A 19th century American artillery regiment stranded in an alternate version of earth battles a dangerous environment and the evil Dominion empire. Col Cayce’s army, comprising his regiment and warriors from native civilizations, not all human, race to capture the Dominion capital before the return of a large Dominion force sent to conquer another continent. This story is primarily a series of battles on the way to the Dominion capital.

The series is about good versus evil.

I've tried to..But

I so enjoyed the Destroyermen series that I gave this new series a try. After the first two books trying to settle in to the listen I can't stand the narrator any longer. I've tried to listen...But I give up.

Boring

Story drools on and on, and on one battle after battle. But nothing else learns. Most character development is boring. I was excited about this serious but I think it’s getting a bit long in the tooth and it’s ready for me to say goodbye and maybe start the book over again. I’m sad to see the story end.
