Muy útil para los cuidadores
Hablar de la demencia es difícil: ver cómo un ser querido empieza a desvanecerse es desgarrador. Pero tropezar con este libro fue como encontrar un pequeño rayo de luz en una habitación muy sombría. Es como un amigo cálido y comprensivo que se sienta a tu lado y te dice: "Oye, es duro, pero no estás solo en esto". Las historias y experiencias que se comparten en él son muy cercanas y hacen que todo el viaje resulte un poco menos solitario.
Aprender a crear un espacio adaptado a la demencia fue muy útil. Sinceramente, es algo en lo que nunca había pensado. Pero el libro lo desglosa en pasos sencillos y factibles, como poner etiquetas en puertas y cajones, deshacerse de cualquier cosa que pueda provocar una caída y simplemente hacer que el lugar sea seguro y cómodo para su ser querido. Se trata de que las cosas les resulten familiares y sencillas, lo cual tiene mucho sentido.
Si te encuentras en la misma situación, te sientes un poco perdido o simplemente abrumado por todo lo que conlleva la demencia, este libro puede ser tu salvavidas. No sólo le ayuda a resolver los aspectos prácticos, sino que también le recuerda que debe cuidar de sí mismo.
