Story
Sixty-seven years ago the Qash'vo'tar conquered Earth. Ever since then, the aliens had ruled from above. The Qash'vo'tar did not care what humanity did on the ground, as long as they didn't attempt to build anything that could get them to the stars. And now, sixty-seven years after they had been conquered, it was time for humanity to show the Qash'vo'tar that they had been right to fear humanity.

Story
Henry already died once. Does he really need to do it again? Now he's a skeleton with a stat sheet, skills, and an insatiable desire to kill humans. Lurking in the very depths of his bleached skull, some remnant of his old self still remains—and it wants to break free just as badly as Henry wants to figure out how he's a skeleton in the first place. And Henry isn't the only one. Other skeletons are gaining sentience all over Jallfoss. Is there any way back? Any way to break the curse that holds all of Jallfoss in its icy grip?

In just seven days, the world will crumble. The System's Descent will usher in a new era of chaos: wild animals mutating, monstrous creatures emerging, and the cessation of modern technology. Humanity will be left defenseless. Drew Wright knows none of this. At least not until he is rudely ripped from his bed and thrust into a white room to undergo a taser-happy ‘Tutorial’. Turns out, he is one of a thousand randomly selected people to be forewarned of the approaching apocalypse. Now, he faces the delightful task of convincing his wife and mother of the devastation hurtling towards them.

John Doc Henry had been on the shortest, crappiest end of the stick since the first day of his life; no parents, bad foster parents, and abysmal luck at every turn. The day his life changed started out exactly like he had come to expect. His car died on a rarely traveled road, and he broke his toe shortly after dodging the one other car on the road. When it stopped and backed up to him, the license plate read “LADYLUK”, adding insult to injury.

Pete is a simple man who enjoys a good drink amongst good friends. Not too much to ask, right? Now, he's trapped in a fantasy world far from home, stuck underground and inside the body of a smelly dwarf with fantastic facial hair. The worst part? The swill that the dwarves are falling all over themselves to drink. It's flat, it's watery, and it has the alcohol content of a rancid coconut. Can Pete save the dwarves from their own sour fate, or will he be forever doomed to plink his pickaxe away in hopes that he hits the motherlode?

Story
On a typical day, on an average train platform, two warring sister goddesses found their avatars. One avatar, the young Yoshi, was swept away to the world of Ephemera to be a great hero of honor, courage, and light. The other, the not-so-young Seiji, was swept away to become a dark lord out to kill or conquer all in his path. But Seiji is in absolutely no mood for that nonsense. It's bad enough that on Earth he was a closed-off, misanthropic grouch with zero patience for other people. Now he's supposed to muster enough of a give-a-damn to lead vile hordes?

John O'Brian travels to Dagon's Cave to murder Richard Brent for the love of Eleanor Bland. Eleanor is a beautiful blonde who won't commit to Brent or O'Brian so John has decided to settle it for her. The cave is a really creepy place with lots of local myths surrounding it including mysterious Little People, the prehistoric beings of British legend. Celts and Saxons battled in the area for decades. O'Brian wanders into the cave and manages to fall headlong down a flight of stairs knocking himself unconscious. To say he wasn't himself when he came to is an understatement.

too many flashback/forward
every time there is a flashward it feels like I am getting spoilers. also the consist jumping makes the interludes confusing when they are also not in sync with else of the two timelines

It's good, but has a lot of problems
The overall story is an excellent follow-up to the previous two novels. Book III suffers from an absurd amount of jumping back and forth in time to the point where even the author seems to lose track of what point in time he's telling the story from occasionally. The narrator is definitely a step down from the previous two books. The opening of the book, which is told from the perspective of a 13 year-old boy is read in the sing/song cadence of a parent reading a bedtime story to a small child. This is toned down in later chapters, but never entirely goes away. I'll no doubt choose to revisit this book again some day, but when I do, I'll be reading the novel rather than listing. If I'd used a credit rather than just buying Book III, I'd request a refund. If Book IV is read by the same narrator, I won't be getting it.

Not as good as the first two
I dislike changing narrators in the middle of a series. That immediately had me wary of this book. That isn't to say that this narrator is any better or worse than the previous, I just dislike the break in consistency. However the break in consistency was par for the course for this book. The biggest thing that was bugging me in this books is that previously it was that everyone was afraid of Kublai Khan invading. In this book it is now Genghis Khan is the one to be feared, with no explanation of the change. If this is to be a similar timeline like ours that makes no sense as Genghis Khan would have been dead by then. There was also a lot of jumping back and forth as others have mentioned. It almost felt like this was written by a different author.
