Publisher's summary

Welcome to Crimson, Georgia. I’m Charley—reluctant witch, and owner of the best bar in town.

Everyone’s welcome at the Stag—vampire, wolf or human. As long as they don’t make trouble. Or ask too many questions about what we’re selling out of the back room.

I keep the beers coming, and in return the town keeps my secret. But when a gang of deadly vampires shows up at the bar, it’s clear they’re not looking for a drink. They want to take my business. Or my blood.

But this is more than just a shake down. All over town, people are dropping like flies. Disappearing or attacking their neighbors. It’s like they’re possessed. And someone—or something—is pulling the strings.

As if I didn’t have enough trouble, a fancy new restaurant just opened right across the street. And a sexy vampire from out of town seems to think I need protection. I have plenty of dangerous friends already… so why can’t I stop thinking about him?

The whole town is going to hell. Perhaps literally. And it looks like it’s up to me to stop it.

Discover a thrilling new series that will leave you listening late into the night. With heart-stopping twists and a found family you’ll fall in love with, this urban fantasy is perfect for fans of Annabel Chase, Charlaine Harris, and Patricia Briggs.

Excellent storyline!

I'm an avid Audible listeners for its my primary form of entertainment ; I have not turned on a television in over 10 years. It's been several years since I have been truly satisfied with any boik/ Audible. I assume it's just me for I have found that most of my go to Author's within the Paranormal Gene have either stopped writing or slowed way down. Most likely the norn as I'm 52 years old 💁‍♀️. Regardless of my listening whoos I am so happy to have the honor of listening to a book that is within a gene that I enjoy and maintains an excellent story line with well developed characters and all the excitement one would expect to be within such a novel as this one! I can not wait for the rest of series to be out!! A huge thank you to the Author and narrator for the amazing work!

What Charlie Does During Her Day

I’m a little sad that I couldn’t get into this one. I love Charlie as a character. She was a no nonsense type of woman and damn how much I miss this type of FC. I am ungodly tired of the delicate dainty holier than thou virgin FC’s that new authors love to write. But I’m at chapter 12 and I’m confused, no not confused just bored to absolute high heaven!

What is the plot? What is the purpose of the story other than Charlie’s meaningless tasks? Charlie sells vampire blood, but WHY does she sell it? Does she kill to get it? It’s just glossed over. The book is just full of incomplete information, it’s like forever waiting for 5 o’clock so you can finally go home but every time you look at the clock, it’s 4:58. At one point, a random cat showed up that was skinny and matted, so she took it in, then moved on to cleaning a glass. Then a chapter later it’s the next day and in walks the cat all healthy with beautiful fur and a healed eye and I’m just??? HUH? Ok??? What happened to the cat? HOW DID IT GET BETTER? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE FINISH A SCENE BEFORE CLEANING YOUR FUCKING GLASS! Can you please finish what is going on so I can friggin understand, not just end it unfinished before starting a whole new thing! She also has a raven named Rex that is weirdly mentioned as happenstance like some weird omen for no reason. Like she’ll scream and then move on. I’m just so confused.

The final thing is Charlie is pretty much useless. What is she? A witch? A clairvoyant? What?!? Her mother was a witch but she never said what she was, if she inherited the witch-ness or what. Up to my current chapter, she’s pretty much sat on the sidelines while her old man wolf sidekick fights her battles. Oh, and her wolf man sidekick - no background on who he is. He’s just there and her mom happened to like before she died. I thought he was immortal by the way she talked about her mom and him but no, he’s 10 years older than her 28.

The story was pretty much What Charlie Does During Her Day. I know more about her minute by minute boring life crap than the missing girl, dead vampires, and all the action going on around her because someone mentions it and she’s like “oh that’s not good… anyways” and moves onto a mundane task. Like wiping a damn glass.

Sigh. Yah it’s just BORING and my ADHDness it’s driving me insane. 😴

But I’ll TRY to continue listening as background noise and update my review if that changes. Maybe it’ll pick up in the last chapter. Or maybe she’ll finally finish cleaning that damn glass. Who the fuck knows.

Edit - nope still boring.

not for me

I listened for 7 chapters and nothing happened. I couldn't get into it, so I gave up and returned it.
