Given the importance of what they do, and the controversies that often surround them, and the violent people they sometimes confront, it is remarkable that in the history of this country only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett has just become number five.... Publisher's summary
A brutal murder, in which all the toes of a young student were amputated, causes horror in the murder department of Walter Kruger. The sometimes too casual main commissioner first hands over the case to his young assistant Marie Liebsam to show her how hard the job as a commissioner is. But she surprises all colleagues with a cool head and clever conclusions. Until she makes a fatal mistake. In the first part of the trilogy Blood, Corpses, Murder, Carlton Roster confronts the unequal team of investigators from Hamburg with very tricky investigations into extremely violent murderers. The young commissioner repeatedly brings herself into precarious situations through her courage, but also through her certain naivety.

In The Worst of You, just-wed architects Timo and Nia flee a murder scene, setting in motion a chain reaction of lies and betrayals that threaten to unravel everything they have built together. Twisted and propulsive, this thriller is told from the alternating perspectives of the couple and those close to them on Williwaw Island, each with their own motive to use the outcome of the murder case to their advantage. Chesterton's allegorical masterpiece is a surreal, psychologically thrilling novel that centres on seven anarchists in turn of the century London who call themselves by the names of days of the week. The story begins when poet Gabriel Syme is recruited as a detective to a secret anarchist division of Scotland Yard by a shrouded, nameless person. First published in 1911, The Innocence of Father Brown contains stories involving one of the greatest characters in the history of detective fiction: Father Brown. He is a Roman Catholic priest who has an uncanny insight into human evil. Rather than the large serial villains in, for example, Sherlock Holmes stories, the mysteries Father Brown solved were more local murders by small-town crooks, narrowing the suspect list down to those in the area of the crime.

Story
In The Thirty-Nine Steps, Hannay struggles to thwart an assassination plot designed to hasten war between Britain and Germany. Later he is plucked from the trenches first, in Greenmantle, to frustrate a plot to ferment an uprising in the Islamic world; and then, in Mr. Standfast, to undertake a vital secret mission against a German spy ring operating among pacifist elements in England. After the war, his adventures continue in The Three Hostages; and then in The Island of Sheep, when an old oath to protect the son of a friend from his days in Africa draws him into new danger.

Syme infiltrates a secret meeting of anarchists who are intent on destroying the world and becomes known as 'Thursday', one of the seven members of the Central Anarchist Council.

Story
First published in 1911, The Innocence of Father Brown contains stories involving one of the greatest characters in the history of detective fiction: Father Brown. He is a Roman Catholic priest who has an uncanny insight into human evil. Rather than the large serial villains in, for example, Sherlock Holmes stories, the mysteries Father Brown solved were more local murders by small-town crooks, narrowing the suspect list down to those in the area of the crime.

Austen wrote, 'I am going to take a heroine whom no-one but myself will much like' and thus introduces the handsome, clever, rich - and flawed, Emma Woodhouse. Hard to listen to
The reading was horrid. The story line shows not much research in how police investigations work. Sounds more like a soft porn with lots of mentioning of pantyhose. Can tell it’s a male author without looking to see who wrote this.

ROBOT!
This was absolutely dreadful. The performance was like listening to a computer generated voice. There was no inflection, no emotion, just woodenly repeating one word after another. And the whole purpose of the story seemed to be obsessing over how attractive the main character was, then detailing the humiliation and sexual assault of the main character. The entire thing was disgusting.
