Publisher's summary

The life of a bounty hunter is never easy. Between chasing after supernatural criminals and doing battle with the rival clan Taran, I have more than enough on my plate.

As if that wasn't enough, I've been thrust into a maze of shadows. A young apprentice, a changeling, and a baron will conspire to turn my life upside down and change Sadras forever.

While I navigate this conspiracy and the demons from my past, I'll be forced to confront an even greater power within me.

For I am no ordinary man: I am the berserker, and I've been quested by the gods to restore this forsaken land.

action packed

a great break from an apparent Isekai phase I have been in. the story of the MC in his native land was a break I didn't know I needed. from the details of the different races and how they interact with each other kept me entertained from start to finish.

More story than romance...Yes!

This was a really good book. It has a great story line and setup the help give all the character's and places a depth that is sometimes lacking in other books. Even the sex times have a reason besides "you're beautiful and I'm horny". The characters have flaws. The plot line has twists and turns without being overly convoluted. I wasn't a fan of the narrator, but she did a decent job. Which is better than I could do so I'll just shut up about that right now. Overall, a very good book.

Very good book

It was a little slow in the first hour but really picks up after that. The story was very easy to follow. I enjoyed it can't wait for next book to come out.

Narrator Makes the Book

The story by Roland Carlsson was entertaining and very much enjoyed the read, did take a while to get fully into the story but once your hooked you can not stop listening! The main character is a little dense but well within a normal range with this type of book. Christian Drerup did a fantastic job with narrating with me only having one issue when she used the same voice with two different characters in quick secession, but over all a very good book and worth time listening to!

I'm liking this author more and more

I'm liking this author more and more. i like how his protagonists don't just breeze through each encounter with minimal effort.

A fantastic start to a new series

A little context for my reviews. I always try and take it easy on the first and last book of any series as not everybody makes it to “The End” and the first anything can be a shaky endeavor. With that said the narrator who I am unfamiliar with did a fantastic job in my opinion. The story for whatever reason it makes me think of Shadowrun with perhaps the ugliness of 40K. Basically it's a post-apocalyptic world with magic and fantasy races. There are the provincial territories that are in decline which is why the lady Ranger loses her job and ends up going to the city. The culture shock, as the city is a lot seedier, is real. Our hero is a bounty hunter in said city. A city that is controlled by barons who seemed to specialize in debauchery and criminal behavior. Each part of this city is broken up into territories and there is cold 2 hot war between the baronies. Our hero is also married but is hopeful for the day when he can support more than one wife. His wife is interested in adding our heroes new apprentice the lady Ranger. I won't talk more about the book at this point as I don't want to spoil anything, but I will say that the story is good, and I'm interested in seeing what comes next. In other words, I recommend that you give this book a try.

Took a chance and not disappointed

This is my first book by Roland Carlsson so I took a chance and at first the narrator was off to me because I’m so use to dual narrators in this genre now but Christian Drerup also surprised me. I look forward to the next book and more from this author and narrator.

Great story

The MC is really likeable. I loved the first love interest and how she was put into the mcs path. Definitely going to listen to the next one.
