Fifth grader Oz Wimbly is an easy target for the bullies of Gifford Elementary, but everything changes when he is drafted into the "Elephant Rebellion."
Oz is whisked off to Fort Loxo—in a galaxy far, far away—where he learns that he is actually an elephant that has been hidden on Earth. And better yet, he can fly!
After surviving ten weeks of boot camp, the many obstacle courses, and the Top Trunk tournament, Oz realizes he and the other recruits of the 11th Battalion are being prepared for battle. Paramilitary preteens
What if Harry Potter turned into an elephant and played Enders Game like it was Quidditch?
This plot has been around for awhile but Nick Pirog freshens it up. Outright joviality is missing (unlike his previous work) but clever storytelling is abundant. It’s above excellent by YA standards and for anyone who likes this plot line!
The narrator was probably chosen for her good looks, she sounds somewhat like the British woman in my car dashboard but much better. She only stumbles on a few words and exclamations.
