Publisher's summary

Opposites attract in this sizzling, feel-good, grumpy sunshine romance about a lively illustrator and the brooding billionaire she literally falls for.

Eleanor Lark is an upbeat illustrator plagued by headaches and unruly strawberry blonde hair. After a grueling cross-country flight, she blacks out cold. The brooding stranger who sat next to her grumping his way through the flight catches Elle as she falls. Neither expects the sweet chaos that happens next.

August Marshall is stonehearted, insanely rich, and a master of corporate cleanups with major baggage of his own. The last man alive who needs a media frenzy after his airport heroics steal headlines. But August has a plan—ask Elle to marry him so their trouble disappears.

Elle almost faints again. They just met! But it’s hard to say no when August tells her she might be the key to saving a children’s book series she adores. And it’s even harder to remember it’s only pretend as sparks fly, hearts fall, and two perfect strangers try to remember life before make-believe…

Reading

I would say have a woman read the women’s parts. Having the guy do it was a weird sound.

For a honest review in my own words . if I could give this book more then 5 stars it be a 10 star. You will not stop laughing and don't read this while everyone is asleep .lol when Eleanor lark falls out cold into her grumpy knight in shining armor Mr August Marshall arms, she never though this man would fake propose to her .now this sets them on a journey that you can't help falling so madly in love with them. Beautiful ,fantastic, wonderful and so much more.

Loved it!!

This book had it all! Laughter, sadness, drama , mystery and love. I did not like using the Lords name in vain. I feel like you could have used a different word/phrase other than that . Story line was good and narrators did an excellent job.

Love these characters!

I enjoyed the best of both worlds by reading and listening to Almost Pretend, written by Nicole Snow. My favorite thing to do is start reading a book at home and then be able to continue on with it when I need to leave the house. I'm so thankful to have had that ability this time and was able to enjoy this with minimal interruptions! This book made me smile and laugh often, but there were heartbreaking moments as well.. August and Elle are perfect for each other. A great HEA that made my heart warm with contentment.

Rock Engle is a new to me narrator. He did an excellent job! Carly Robins is an excellent narrator who I've enjoyed listening to in the past. They brought this audiobook to life with emotional performances that had it rolling like a movie in my head. It was perfection!

I listened to this through the Kindle Unlimited program.

ummm

The storyline was good as was the female narration. The male narrator sounded like a male in his 80s and his version of of females voice was Awful! No secret why he was nit included on the sample recording. I could not picture August as a 34 year old male.

How cheesy the dialogue and male narration sounded.

Did not like this one. Neither the plot nor the narration. It just sounded like a 50’s sitcom. It did not do it for me. The male narrator was good. I just did not like the dialogue. The female was ok. This is one that I will not be listening to again.

starts out so well then becomes agonizingly boring

the story drags on and on and on. the way the guy does ANY female character makes them sound mentally challenged, drunk, or like they're having a stroke. its so painful to listen to this

Didn’t finish.

Not sure if the book was good or not. I got about half way through. The make narrator is fine I’m sure with other books but his voice was just like an old man it was weird. I couldn’t focus and didn’t finish. Disappointed and a waste of a credit that’s not cheap. I would really like audible to start allowing both narrators as a sample because I’m getting really tired of dealing with bad narrations after spending way too much on these books.
