After his mom died from cancer, Wash gave up his girlfriend and his dream of being a career Army officer to stay home and take care of his father, a former Special Forces soldier stricken with PTSD. Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

Publisher's summary
Andy Clanton and the crew of the Jambo return to Earth for the final battle with the Bugs…but the real threat is back home.
Incited by foreign enemies, stoked by mindless fear, the American public is wrapped in panic, and the country’s enemies use the opportunity to attempt a coup to seize control of America’s space assets.
Andy and the others are forced to go on the run, while Pops stays on Earth to organize a resistance. Andy and Julie steal the Bellerophon and seek answers from the Elder AI, Graham.
With the world—and their own country—in turmoil, and the Bugs bearing down on Earth, will Andy be able to solve the mystery of the Elders and their ancient enemies before it’s too late?
Dragon Award Finalist Rick Partlow's Earth at War series is military sci-fi at its finest: packed with non-stop action and seasoned with grade-A military humor.

Story
Two hundred years ago, aliens invaded Earth. A violent war followed. The enemy won. Some of us escaped, most of us didn’t. On Proxima they flourished - the invasion forgotten. On Earth we floundered - the horror began. Their world is advanced, peaceful, and secure. Our world is broken, savage, and overrun. A new invasion is coming. A hunger that has swallowed half the universe. They don’t care which planet we live on. They want to end us all. But where there is life, there is hope. And where there is hope, there are heroes. This time, vengeance will be ours.

Story
The galaxy was once terrorized by the Sturm, a group of “species purists” intent on destroying any human with genetic or cybernetic enhancements. Fashioning themselves as the one true “Human Republic,” the Sturm cut a bloody swath across the stars, killing billions before finally being defeated and driven into the far reaches of Dark Space. Centuries of peace bred complacency. Everyone believed the Sturm had died out in the Dark. They were wrong.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

As a sci-fi author with a hit TV show, I have a few ideas about what alien invaders are supposed to look like. In my stories, they’re technologically advanced monsters, with tentacles, and no faces. Turns out I was right about the technology. And about how angry they’d be. But the way they look…that’s more terrifying than even I could have imagined. They look exactly like us. Because they are us.

Chase had it all planned out. Do a little time in one of the emperor's jails, say a four-year stretch, for getting rid of some trash that no one would miss, and when he got out, the path to leadership would be wide open. Unfortunately, his bastard of a father, the same one who left his mother to die in poverty and him to run wild on the streets, took an interest. Seeing him sitting on the bench when his case went to court was a shock. But not as big a shock as being sentenced to ten years in the Imperial Navy.

More of a political commentary, then sci-fi
I have read/listened to every book rick partlow has written. he is a good writer, but this book was so busy taking our current political issues and cramming it into the story line, that it forgot it was a sci-fi novel. It was a very thinly vailed political commentary that pulled me out of the story over and over again. by the end, you will have no doubt about which political party he supports. I'm just disappointed, It ruined this book for me.

The entire series is AWESOME!
I listened to all six books and couldn’t hardly wait for each installment. The non stop action and snark from the main character makes this a great read/listen. This series will be added to my other favorites of Dune, Lucifer’s Hammer, and The Mote in Gods Eye.
