Publisher's summary

Known as the "Big Book", the basic text of Alcoholics Anonymous has helped millions of people worldwide get and stay sober since the first edition appeared in 1939. Opening chapters articulate A.A.’s program of recovery from alcoholism - the original Twelve Steps - and recount the personal histories of A.A.'s co-founders, Bill W. and Dr. Bob.

Here, more than 40 A.A. members share how they stopped drinking and found a new healthier and more serene way of life through the Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Whether listening to passages together at meetings, listening privately for personal reflection, or working with a sponsor, the Big Book can be a source of inspiration, guidance and comfort on the journey to recovery.

This Fourth Edition of Alcoholics Anonymous has been approved by the General Service Conference.

The Big Book

The readers do an excellent job reading. Very pleasant voices. And the information in the book is very informative and very helpful if you struggle with stopping, whether it be with food, drugs, sex, alcohol or anything that you can’t limit or stop.

It works!

I absolutely love this book! I was handed it Thirty-eight years ago. And yes, I have maintained my sobriety since 12/7/83. It is however, important to me that I reread it from time to time. Audible made it possible for me to listen to the Big Book while I walked. Thank you!

A Must Listen For The Recovering Alcoholic

Required reading/listening for AA. Great for those in alcoholic recovery. Listen to it and also get a physical copy to read and make notes in.

A must have

I have read the hard copy and study from it regularly. I felt that having the audio would get me more of the study of the BB. Divine providence…there is no other explanation for me!

Salvation lay within these pages

I had to admit my alcoholism after my wife left. The reasons are contested but the facts remain the same she left, took our children, and I was broken. I turned to drugs and alcohol for comfort and they took my sanity but left me alive. King alcohol wants to take our souls but will settle for our sobriety.

This book taught me how to live again. To become the man I cheated myself out of becoming because I preferred to lie to myself rather than looking inward at my place in the failure of my marriage. Now I see I do not have to remain broken. I can heal. So can you. Read the book, have it read to you, and it will sink in if you stick with it. I wish you luck on your journey and you to go to meetings & seek a sponsor. Devote your self to god. And work the steps. There you will find what you seek. Rjhhhjjjj

the book that saved my life

I was just 19 years old when I joined AA. I wasn't even a huge drinker but every single time that I did drink practically it turned into an out of control situation ending in blackout a lot of the time. I also did some other things aside from alcohol abuse that were more of a problem then even the alcohol by far. but I found that all of my addictions had the same solution. it was the steps of this program. I stayed active in the program and went to meetings daily for about 5 years. I'm old now and I live in a valley of a mountain in a rural part of West Virginia and I'm sure there are meetings around here but I don't go to them. wow those days are behind me I did find that in my 30s when I decided to pick up again, I was right back where I was with my addiction. just like I had never stopped. so no amount of time passing can insure your sobriety so it's always a good plan to stay active. but given my age and my location and my lifestyle, I feel comfortable just with the knowledge that I have acquired and the support of materials like this. I can read this book over and over and get something new out of it each time. addiction and the journey of sobriety for someone who is an addict or alcoholic is ongoing in a learning process that you must always know it's going to be a part of your life. I haven't read this book in years but I can still quote multiple parts of this book and it has shaped the way I live my life basically for my entire adult life. it's a system of brutal honesty and self-awareness in my opinion and always striving to be better. all while never forgetting where you started.
