This series remains great

The system is engaging, the world grounded but fantastical, the characters realistic and fun. The only thing I would say it lacks is twists within twists. But this is an adventure book with elements of mystery so lacking convoluted misdirection is probably for the best. If you like book 1 it's much the same with more exploration of the world.

Small not relevant spoiler ahead. Ending the book on an interlude that expanded concepts of the system was a great way to create the disconnect. Unlike with book 1 I was very satisfied with this ending.

great

the story is a blast and if you ignore the status reading at the end of each chapter it is all the better

The adventure continues

It's just as good as the first book as Elaine makes her way through the land learning to be a ranger. The adventures are different from the first book with different challenges and tragedies. You grow to know Elaine and the rest of the ranger team well and I really began to like them more (I liked them in the first book they get fleshed out more here). I'm looking forward to the third book. My only complaint is the stat readings or and the dings about each level up. the narrator is very good, she continues to make distinctive voices that are believable and enjoyable for the most part.

Still a fun romp, with lots of stats

I personally find the story full of humour, zest and sillyness but in a good way.
Yes there are a lot of stats but I decided to not let it annoy me and so it didn’t. Mostly it was woven into the narration, but a few times you get hit with it out of the blue.
The narrator does a good job, but I wish there were more pauses as I sometimes found it hard to keep my attention on the very long inner monologues and had to rewind.
Otherwise a good 4 star book all around.

Addition after book 7:
The series get better and the world building we only get hints of now will get more detailed as it progresses and “loose” ends tie together one after another while new plot twists get introduced.

I do recommend the series

Book 2 Success

An excellent continuation of the series of a small preview of Elaine's future prospects, in more ways than one.

good book to much stats

I really don't like the minimum word count requirements for audible reviews. . . .

enjoyed but…

I’d say that over all it’s a good story, it’s kept me listening, kept my attention while driving and at work. Bought the next book because beside the small issues I have, want to see where the story goes.

Would I say get the book. Well if you listened to the first one and want to see where it goes yes, by now you’d know if it was your cup of tea or not.

My only issue, and it seems to be on course with other reviews. The leveling system is odd, but what gets me pulled out a bit each time is the random stat breakdown of the MC,
Talking about flowers, boom! Stat page, she didn’t level up before, didn’t change a skill, just random stat break down for no reason based on the current moment in the story, maybe just a page filler?
That’s really the one thing that bugged me the most.

Overall. I enjoyed it. Going to start the next book because I do want to see where it goes. Hope this helped

OMG such a good book.

Okay, OK Silkie Myth has won me over. It may have taken a plague to do it but I love Elaine. I've seen several reviews berating Elaine for making dumb decisions. But, they're wrong, I say she's young and still learning as she skills-up in power and learns more about the system. At least she's not one for displaying teen angst, she got over with that in her first life taking both good and bad in stride. As she fights/heals her way across the countryside with her comrades in arms.

I love farreting out quotes that amuse me, here's just one of those...

"She came back and found me being silly playing with fire I'd made a fancy stage and had little flame actors running around trying to mimic Romeo and Juliette."
