From multi-award-winning author, Linda Watkins, comes a story of two women, from different walks of life, and the one dog who loved them both. A feature writer for the Boston Globe, Sarah Palmer had it all – a beautiful apartment, a great job, and a family she adored. A thousand miles away, Mindy Sue Watson didn’t have it so good. Trapped in a marriage to an abusive alcoholic, her only pleasure was in tossing a ball to a skinny dog she’d adopted from the local shelter.

ICU travel nurse Allison Jamison is found unresponsive with a needle in her arm, and implicated as a drug user.Awakening as a patient in her own unit, she discovers her fiancé, Detective Mark Derning is missing and so is her cell phone. The victim of an opiate poisoning, Mark is in critical condition, and Allison is unaware until three days later, when they are reunited.
Suspicions signal a connection between Mark’s attempted murder and Allison’s attacker. This close brush with death forces the couple to prioritize their lives as they escape for an overdue vacation.
Justin Tensington, a surgical technician, has been stealing Fentanyl and replacing the liquid with saline, compromising patients’ lives with the contaminated vials. An investigation into hospital-wide drug tampering and patient deaths caused by blood-borne pathogens, zeroes in on the surgery employee. Fears that the police might also link him to the attack on Allison and an attempt on Mark’s life force Tensington to flee.
Avoiding the authorities at home and intent on pursuing his personal vendetta, Tensington follows them to Italy. The couple’s romantic holiday transforms into a struggle to survive and an intense quest for their assailant, whose sinister motives include a far-ranging reach.
Critic reviews
“Paced like a roller-coaster ride, Absolute Revenge invokes the inner workings of a critical care unit coupled with the deranged mind of a serial criminal that races through a tale of vengeance, duplicity, and betrayal—tempered with a touch of romance—in a mad dash from its hospital setting in Miami to the splendors of Italy that will keep you turning pages late into the night.” ~ Karen Neary Smithson, author of the Beth Getty Mystery Series

Story
It was 1970 in a defeated Rhode Island fishing town. Vietnam and Nixon dominated the national news. Both the near and distant future looked bleak. But they were five inseparable high school friends with something incredible in common: an unwavering resolve to look after each other no matter what hell life threw at them. And they were on a mission. The plan was simple: Go off the grid before they turned 18 to avoid the draft. They’d sell some grass, stack some cash, then head west and start a commune. What could possibly go wrong?

Story
Buckhead isn’t a place you live, it’s a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren’t nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge. Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives—down to each individual strand of hair.

Fast-paced, exciting story!!
Absolute Revenge, an Audiobook by Margie Miklas is the riveting story of Mark and Allison. He’s a detective and she’s a nurse. She’s been set up and her fiancé almost pays the price. There’s a maddening race for them to leave…and the real culprit to follow. The deadly game commences!
Loved this story and the rapid-fire pace of the action! The romance seemed secondary to everything else, but the story is lightening in your veins and exciting!!!
This Audiobook was narrated by Vivienne Leheney, who flawlessly captures the characters’ essences. Thoroughly enjoyable story and the first for me by this author! Excellent!!!

Compelling
A true sociopath with no remorse and almost no feelings except revenge! This despicable person did one bad deed after another and seemed unrepentant and unconscionable in each of these actions. This person was single-minded in their attempts at ruining lives, but in the end they were a weak coward. I hoped they'd finally change, repent,
be an adult or anything human, but they were true to themselves and to their very rotten core to the bitter end. This was an invigorating story that kept my rapt attention to the end. I highly recommend this book. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.

Margie takes her love of Italy and hospital background and weaves a mystery with many twists and turns. Enjoyed this book just like her previous two medical mysteries!

It was a long ride
It was a long ride and I was glad that, the antagonist finally got what he deserved. I tried to see the story from his pov and fell a little sorry for him, however all the things his did was unredeemable and he never felt sorry for it.
