Publisher's summary

Charlotte Holmes’s brilliant mind and deductive skills are pulled into a dangerous investigation at sea in the new mystery in the bestselling Lady Sherlock series.

After feigning her own death in Cornwall to escape from Moriarty’s perilous attention, Charlotte Holmes goes into hiding. But then she receives a tempting offer: Find a dossier the crown is desperately seeking, and she might be able to go back to a normal life.

Her search leads her aboard the RMS Provence. But on the night Charlotte makes her move to retrieve the dossier, in the midst of a terrifying storm in the Bay of Biscay, a brutal murder takes place on the ship.

Instead of solving the crime, as she is accustomed to doing, Charlotte must take care not to be embroiled in this investigation, lest it become known to those who harbor ill intentions that Sherlock Holmes is abroad and still very much alive.

* This audiobook edition includes a downloadable PDF which contains RMS Provence’s deck plans.

Saved in my calendar (w/bated breath)

Sherry Thomas is such a great writer. I absolutely love this series and the smart writing.
This installment had several points where I laughed out loud. It’s also been hard not to discuss with my husband and bestie as we all read at different speeds.
And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the force that is Kate Reading. Her voice is what lead me to the Lady Sherlock series in the first place.

Doesn’t disappoint. Looking forward to adding this as my 2nd fav installment. The Hollow of Fear is my #1.

Best one yet

This series is a pure joy. This is only the second book I have ever pre-ordered and I’m glad I did. I thought the story was well written, the plot was great, and the characters fantastic. I cannot wait to read the next one.

Another Great Mystery by Sherry Thomas

I didn't love the last book in the series as much as the others (the tropes were not my cuppa, and I had trouble following parts), so I was a little nervous going into this one while also being excited about its release. I shouldn't have felt conflicted; it was wonderful. The mystery itself was great, and you won't find better characters. Sherry Thomas is brilliant. The ending had a tease that the next book might focus on freeing Myron Finch's child and/or Stephen Marbleton, and I hope that's right because I am here for it.

I wish I could unread the whole series so I could experience it for the first time again. I highly recommend it.

Enjoyable mystery.

An enjoyable mystery. The flashbacks seem like a bit of a cheat when it comes to hiding information from the reader that the detective already knows, but we do have plenty of clues before the criminal is revealed, and the story is good.

Audiobook narrator Kate Reading earns a solid 5 stars!

Great read!

I love everything about these stories. The characters get better and better, I never guess the end, and the narration, which can ruin a good book, is perfect! I can’t wait until the next!

Another great Whodunnit in the Lady Sherlock series!

A murder and a mysterious errand combine in this installment of the Lady Sherlock series to keep the reader guessing. A long denouement, but for two very good reasons!
Kate Reading is a fabulous narrator. I have listened to many other of her narrations and they are all wonderful.
I look forward to the next book in the series.
