Publisher's summary

In 1985, The National Cowboy Poetry Gathering had its inaugural conference in Elko, Nevada. David was there to help put on a show, but when your cast keeps losing members, it's hard to know how the show can go on.

Ride "em Cowboy

Yet another page-turner, (or, more accurately, fast and fun listening due to Jake's incredible narration abilities), that continually leaves you chuckling and wondering about what’s going to happen next. Poetry and cowboys – not a typical match-up, but Unger brings it together in a hilarious yet insightful way. As usual, there are lots of references to the 80’s culture including stores, songs, and current events that make it fun to relive. As Unger says in the book, “I follow one thing until it leads to another.” That’s how it feels reading his books, one thing leads to another in unpredictable ways that keep you laughing and in suspense as to how and who dunnit. As with all of his books, A Lesson in Cowboys and Murder offers a bunch of useful psychotherapy strategies. Shoulding vs. wanting is one I picked up this time. Probably my favorite part of the book was the ending - a surprisingly poignant tribute to friendship. Unger can be brash in his approach, while at the same time sensitive and perceptive. It makes for a fun ride.*

*Please note that the author had a book promotion that I was fortunate enough to take advantage of and, although I did get the book for free, I would have happily paid for it as I so enjoy the series.
