Story
Meet the good egg. He’s a verrrrrry good egg indeed. But trying to be so good is hard when everyone else is plain ol’ rotten. As the other eggs in the dozen behave badly, the good egg starts to crack from all the pressure of feeling like he has to be perfect. So, he decides enough is enough! It’s time for him to make a change.... Jory John hatches a funny and charming story that reminds us of the importance of balance, self-care, and accepting those who we love (even if they are sometimes a bit rotten).

Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Story
When Alexander wakes up with gum in his hair, he thinks that maybe it’s going to be a bad day. When he trips on the skateboard by his bed and drops his sweater in the sink, he knows it’s going to be even worse than he thought. His brothers find fabulous prizes in their cereal boxes; he finds cereal. His best friends get fancy desserts in their lunch boxes; Mom forgets dessert. From being scrunched in the car on the way to school all the way to lima beans for supper and kissing on TV (yuck!), the day just keeps getting worse. It’s enough to make him want to move to Australia.

Dragons love tacos. They love chicken tacos, beef tacos, great big tacos, and teeny tiny tacos. So if you want to lure a bunch of dragons to your party, you should definitely serve tacos. Buckets and buckets of tacos. Unfortunately, where there are tacos, there is also salsa. And if a dragon accidentally eats spicy salsa...oh, boy. You're in red-hot trouble.

Great Book. Great Performance
If you could sum up A Bad Case of Stripes in three words, what would they be?
Good life lesson
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Bad Case of Stripes?
My son loves when Camilla eats her lima beans, regardless of what others may think about her, and she is healed.
Which scene was your favorite?
My son loves the scene in which the children are saying the pledge and Camilla turns red, white, and blue stripes and stars..
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extreme reaction. Just genuinely liked it.
Any additional comments?
I purchased the audio to go with the illustrated book. My younger son reads along with the audio as I do my nightly reading. It's a really gret way to make time for your children and yourself to read simultaneously.

We love this book!
Download your favorites! Owning a couple of children's books on audible makes story time doable even if we're too tired (sick, sore, etc) to read out loud. It's also better than video for brain-health..

A necessary life lesson
A good conversational starter with your kids about the want to fit in but it could cost you losing your true self in the process. A good book to have and read with your pre-k before kinder or even grades 1-2

Love the book! Only complaint
Love this story, the reader gave a great performance! Could have done without the music, or with it a little quieter. At times it made it hard to understand/discern the reader.

For My kids
I enjoy getting to spend time with my kids and listening to audio books together is one of them. For the younger age groups this is wonderful and one they enjoy listening to over and over again. I would say from about 5-7ish age group. That said I enjoyed it myself, the reader is great. If your looking for a good short read before bed time two thumbs up on this one.
