巻第八 収録内容
平家は西国に、兵衛佐は東国に、木曽は都にはりおこなふ。
〈中略〉あぶなながら年暮れて、寿永も三年になりにけり。
(巻第八・法住寺合戦)
01 山門御幸(さんもんごこう)
後白河(ごしらかわ)法皇は、木曽義仲(きそよしなか)に守られて帰京し、義仲・行家(ゆきいえ)に平家追討を命じる。
02 名虎(なとら)
木曽義仲は左馬頭(さまのかみ)となり朝日の将軍と呼ばれ、平家一門はみな免官となる。
03 緒環(おだまき)
九州では安徳(あんとく)天皇が宇佐八幡に参詣したが平宗盛(たいらのむねもり)の夢見は悪く、平家一門は太宰府に戻る。
04 太宰府落(ださいふおち)
維義は旧主である平家の説得に耳を貸さず、平家を追いたてる。
05 征夷将軍院宣(せいいしょうぐんのいんぜん)
鎌倉の源頼朝(みなもとのよりとも)に征夷将軍の院宣が下る。
06 猫間(ねこま)
鎌倉の源頼朝が立派であるのに対して、都の木曽義仲は不作法で田舎者であった。
07 水島合戦(みずしまがっせん)
平家は八島で山陽・南海道の十四ヶ国を従えて、再び勢力を盛り返した。
08 瀬尾最期(せのおさいご)
木曽義仲は山陽道におもむく。
09 室山(むろやま)
木曽義仲が八島へ攻めようとするところに、都から行家が義仲の讒言をしているとの知らせが入る。
10 鼓判官(つづみほうがん)
木曽義仲の軍勢が都で乱暴を働くので、後白河法皇は鼓判官知康(ともやす)を使いに出す。
11 法住寺合戦(ほうじゅうじかっせん)
院方の近江守仲兼(なかかぬ)たちは奮戦ののち落ちてゆく。
