Resumen del Editor

**The New York Times Bestseller**

**Parade magazine must-read books by celebrities 2023**

"I went through so many emotions reading this book. Reconnecting to one's ancestors and truly feeling, not only hearing, their stories are fertile ground for true ecstatic embodiment of the self. We have to know where we've been to see where we're going." -Willow Smith

"[Smith] is candid and honest... For the first time she reveals the truth behind [the] happy images. An incredible read." -Hoda Kotb, The Today Show

A gripping, at times painfully honest, and ultimately inspirational memoir from global superstar and creator of the Red Table Talk series Jada Pinkett Smith.

Jada Pinkett Smith was living what many would view as a fairy-tale of Hollywood success. But appearances can be deceiving, and as she felt more and more separated from her sense of self, emotional turmoil took hold. Sparing no detail, Worthy chronicles her life—from a rebellious youth running the Baltimore streets as an observer and participant in the drug trade, to the deep bond she shared with Tupac Shakur from the moment they met, to her move to Los Angeles and the successful career she built on her own terms, to becoming the wife of superstar Will Smith and mother to Jaden, Willow and bonus-mom to Trey. A rollercoaster from the depths of suicidal depression to the heights of self-acceptance and spiritual healing, Worthy is a woman’s journey to finding herself again.

In a media driven landscape that crafts narratives for our celebrities, Smith shares herself in an intimate conversation with listeners. She answers questions about her difficult childhood, her marriage, her parenting style, her career choices, and the intense scrutiny that followed “the slap.” An impactful and rare memoir that engages and educates, Worthy shows why adhering to the status quo has never been the plan for Jada Pinkett Smith and why labels and stories crafted by others strip women of their authenticity. Worthy teaches us who Jada is, and how to embrace our most lovable qualities. Complete with thought-provoking writing prompts and meditations on how to discover who we really are and nourish our self-worth.

PERFECTION

Sad that I finished the audiobook. I simply wanted more. I'd say that EVERY stay at home spouse of entertainers can relate. I could relate to almost every story Jada told here. EXTRA respect to you, Queen.

Your welcome Ms. Jada Pinkett Smith!

I said thank you because you thanked us for reading your book!

I would like to thank you,
despite you , being private and owing me nothing…. what you disclosed to us is really none of my business despite you being a public figure . to be privy to such intimate details of your life behind the scenes i read your book because you have a voice and you’ve been enduring to me in silence!
I am rooting for you, for both of you and all of you!
so , thank you for your time and forethought . You owe us nothing, and yet you gave us so much in this book. I appreciate you for that .

when you’re only human and you tried your best . and if anyone does not hear your pain and suffering through the decades, or even when you were a small child death, divorce , substance abuse
with BOTH PARENTS ( sorry Adrienne ) (Congrats on your over 20 years of sobriety !)
survival, abandonment etc. before you even met Will Smith, or had a family or became a star! then I’ll keep them in my prayers for they are not only seemingly heartless but they are seemingly judgmental.

FOR YOU ARE WORTHY!!!

I know you’re human and so I think you again for your precious time transparency and honesty into your life, raw and unapologetic. I hope this gives you additional healing to what you already have and your family and I pray you and Will Smith stay together forever you both are beautiful people, beautiful family, and a beautiful extended family. May you be blessed . you are a human and with your exterior toughness, a beautiful softness because of your big heart and the bigger your heart there is more to step on, and you try to survive and navigate through life like we all do we appreciate you.
I know I do.
thank you for sharing your most precious inner thoughts to be so vulnerable when you’re making it plain to all that, you fight depression and look for inner peace And happiness.
You sound so much better and I’m happy for you.
Ms. Worthy!

By the way, you should continue to read these audiobooks because your voice is so pleasant and soothing.

Love!

I loved Jada’s honestly and vulnerability in this book. At times, you could hear her emotions through her voice (one moment that stuck out involved a moment with Debbie Allen). She gives you a look at her self realization and what it took for her to get to where she is. The book isn’t messy as the media paints it. Very powerful book that’s beautifully told. 🫶🏽

Know Jada-Great Memior!

Jada is an intelligent and sentient being. Her goodwill pours through her story and there is little if any, attention given to disparaging others. If you thought she was evil, vengeful, hurtful, selfish or full of resentment, you thought wrong. The book is not a crime scene investigation report or a tell-all backbiting frenzy where she throws friends, family, or peers under the bus. And she isn't hard selling any form of enlightenment or, hate. It is a personal story of her evolution in this world and it is a beautiful story. You will know who Jada Smith really is at the end of this story. She is bright, competent, multi-talented, successful, curious, evolving, and generously gives of herself, Way ahead of her time. A very sane woman. Minimum destruction and maximum creation is her operating basis. Anyone looking for trash novels or hit and runs or full-on assaults is going to be disappointed. The book will be over some people's heads. But if you are curious to know who Jada Smith really is, you will find out. You will know her soul and her genuine good purpose. Nelson Mandella said: "There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children.". By the time I was finished with the book I was praying that in my next life, I would be born to this woman, And praying in this life to have more friends like this. I will read this book again.
