Resumen del Editor

After a brush with death that almost cost me everything, I managed to expose Izguril's machinations and imprison the usurper god within me.

Now, with no more immediate threats to my survival, I wish that I could take some time to rest, but I can't. Because if the goblin village that has taken up residence within me is thriving, and more adventurers come every day to test their mettle against my traps and monsters, something is nagging at the back of my mind. A dark vision, that was confirmed by none other than the Mistmother - the goddess of foresight. In nine short years, Invaders will arrive in this world to raze it to the ground. Not a soul will survive. Nothing will remain.

That's why I cannot relax. I must gather as much strength as I can if I want to stand a chance to repel them. And to do that, there's no two ways about it: I need to expand the dungeon. I need to add more rooms and more treasures to make it more compelling, so that I may attract more seasoned adventurers. Because if the essence of novice adventurers might be enough to maintain my magic reserves, I need that of powerful warriors and wizards to reach the next level.

What can I say another home run

So I bought the first book when it came out and waited a year for this. I picked up where I left off with out even having to relisten to the first book, so memorable were the characters in the story. he does so much at some points it may feel overwhelming, I felt his frustration. the book doesn't make you hang on to the edge of your seat but contemplate I'm just rambling now but give it a shot

it's ok

well written, however it is to predictable, every bit of the story goes in a straight line, act then react, act then react, on and on. and it makes it feel a bit cheap.

Linear and shallow

The book is good, not great. The story is very two dimensional without much suspense or intrigue compared to the first one. Things just happen and work out for the tree without much ryme or reason. In essence, plot armor strong compelling reason weak. Still entertaining but not going to make you want to stop what your doing to hear what happens next

Great story about a Great Tree

A great commentary on classic dungeon mastering, and a story with well paced and satisfying worldbuilding. Including interesting characters and settings that never overstay themselves. All through the main character who is always naturally moving through states of curiosity, frustration, and pride at his accomplishments.

Super entertaining!

Really enjoyed listening to the audio book. The narrator does a decent job and the story is entertaining. While it's not on the levels of, say, Brandon Sanderson or Tolkien, it's definitely worth the listen if fantasy, trees, dungeons and/or D&D are your thing.

World tree gets into a world of trouble

Book 2 moves the story from capturing that troublesome god to leveling up to defend the world from an alien incursion in 9 years. A threat that even gods and the almighty dragons have been defenseless against. The tree engages in several other battles while in pursuit of his goal to prepare for the invasion, most quite harrowing.

The thing is, most of these existential encounters are directly due to his blundering-like interventions into areas that were best left alone. Also, his zeal on preparing for this anticipated invasion was based on an omen from one of the gods whose similar apocalyptic prophesies had not borne out. Andrew Karevik appears to have meant for the omen to be taken seriously but then ... again ... it could go the other way, as well, i.e., the prophetic god could have been playing him. Only continuing the series will reveal the way of it. Which, I don't mind since I enjoy the story and intend to continue the series.

Neil Hellegers performance continues to deliver.
