Every American needs to listen to/read this. I’ve been listening in the car and been perpetually late because I can’t turn it off. We’ve been getting bits and pieces of the case in the news, but this report puts everything together in context, and it’s so damning that one wonders how certain individuals could still be walking around free.

J6C Report

This book is a comprehensive review of the events surrounding, not just the breach of the capital on January 6, but the multipronged effort to overturn the election of 2020. It’s well done, informative, and broken up nicely into segments, read by various voices, which I found kept me engaged.

Political Violence fueled by Televangelical Grift

As a lifelong student of politics, I have always been fascinated by the trend lines that shape the contours of a political era. I believe that historians will see this epoch as one where blind faith in a person versus support for a set of ideals and programs for the betterment of society resounded for a significant percentage of our citizens that still festers feverently in their hearts and minds today.

That is made crystal clear in the #january6threport of the #selectcommitteetoinvestigatethejanuary6thattackontheunitedstatescapitol . Having followed in real time the events before, during and after this horrendous attempt to not only thwart the will of the people as exemplified by the attempt to halt Constitutionally mandated United States presidential electoral count but also the attempt of the Executive Branch of the Government to take over the Legislative Branch by force and violence, I can't say that much of this information is new to me. The former president made it quite clear beginning in 2016 that the only electoral outcome he would accept was his victory. He repeated this over and over again in the four years leading up to the 2020 election and , even as the votes were still being counted on election day was promoting a conspiracy of a stolen election which he had every intention of rejecting. Unfortunately, too many people took his threats as rhetorical when both he and his zealot base had no intention of accepting a Biden presidency if they had anything to do about it. And they tried. And they failed.

It is mind-blowing that the preservation of our democracy is only true because the former president's most fanatical supporters also happen to be incompetent boobs. But, incompetent or not, some 35,000 of them assembled on the grounds between the White House and the Capitol and, at the order of their Commander In Chief, marched too.and then supported the storming of the Legislative Branch while they were undertaking their Constitutionally mandated role of certifying the electoral votes of the states.

Sadly, the one they worshiped knew that he had lost the election, confirmed in numerous conversations with his loyal election team and staff on numerous occasions between the election and the storming of the Capitol. He perpetuated the lie partly because he was admittedly embarrassed by the lose of over 7 million votes, partly because he was curious to see if the support was strong enough to override the vote through a violent coup, but mostly because it was a chance to wring hundreds of millions of dollars from his most loyal fans. While they thought they were contributing to their President, the facts show that he used a tiny fraction of that $250 million faithfully contributed by his flock for his fight while the rest was siphoned off into the accounts of his election and staff cronies. It wasn't a surprise that he immersed himself into the Televangelical community because, like him, they are money grubbing con artists who create false emergencies and fake enemies to provoke the faithful to give.

At the conclusion of this report which dominated most of my waking hours these last few weeks, I was left with a sense of profound sadness that so many people who legitimately feel like the world is moving on without them desperately believed that they had found a champion and savior on the ex- President. Instead, they invited a predator inside their door who voraciously feeds on their greatest fears and apprehensions. Even now, as every single legal and political challenge he has raised has been proven to be. lie, they believe him because they can't accept the change that has and is yet to come. How we break this impasse and quell these fears so that we can be whole and healed families and one nation again is the question for our age.

There will be no easy answers, particularly the truthful ones.

A must listen for every single American

Great summation and detailed account, thanks to the greater team that produced this report! While of course not everyone will listen or accept, the depth and breadth of under oath testimony to help complete the picture is beyond compare. The ghost of Benedict Arnold must certainly be smiling at being replaced as the most notorious shorthand for American turncoat.
