Marooned in another universe, a young American musician leads a motley army in battle against an enemy that threatens to destroy their world and ours.

Jon-Tom just wanted to go home. Trapped in a world where animals speak and magic is real, the American college student yearned for an ordinary dorm-room life. But here his music has magical power — even if he can’t control it — which may be able to save the world from the army of the Plated Folk, whose sinister queen plans on killing and eating every warm-blooded mammal she can get her pincers on and taking over their lands.

The great battle is coming, and Jon-Tom, whose posse includes a wizarding turtle, a cowardly bat, and an otter with a filthy mind, must raise an army to fight it. To find allies they must make an impossible journey, across mountains and rivers no one has ever passed before. Survival will be a miracle — but Jon-Tom is no ordinary musician.

action, adventure, and a bit of mystery

A continuation of book one, though I feel it should have been in book one.

The music is so loud sometimes that you can't hear

The music is so loud sometimes that you can't hear the dialogue. It is a great story and the actors do a good job, it's just whoever did the mixing did a very poor job.

killer cast of voice actors

A really fun world with a fantastic cast of voice actors. the story knows how to be quirky and not take itself too seriously without breaking immersion

Another awesome performance

I truly do love this series. Have since I was a kid. Admittedly some of the writing feels dated (and not just the technology mentioned) but you can feel the well meaning behind it. The dramatic performance adds so much to it. Can't wait to finish the series.

Brilliant adventure!

One pf very few books that read like an actual adventure, with danger, mystery, excitement and interesting characters along with excellent lighthearted moments and banter. To top it all off, the dramatization adds flavour and really brings it to life. Each character sounds alive in a way that surpasses movies and books.

Thoroughly enjoyed it!
