A Wonderful Ending

This was the best book of the series. A total delight. Thank you for such a terrific ending to a very enjoyable series.

Sinusoidal Waves of Action in this Installment that Keeps Your Heart Racing!

Many threads are resolved as the climax of Jake Everton's journey in facing his destiny reaches its height! Oh, but surprises await as to how the journey unfolds, not only for Jake and his friends but all of man and magic-kind. This book has it all: action, drama, love, sadness, fear, loneliness, empathy, and uncertainty. Every detail of the setting and pertinent background of the character is shared to encapsulate the essence of the moment, so that you are invested into the story and enamored at the next stunt that the kids pull off or at the tricks Wyvern unleashes onto the Order. This installment is beautifully crafted, not only to deliver the outcome of the war, but also to lead into a new world with a sense of new beginnings, opportunities and growth. The excitement and driving momentum of the story could not have been enhanced any better than with Narrator Jake Benson at the helm. Benson is truly a master of voices, and now evident as a master singer as well! As a long- standing fan of the Gryphon Chronicles, this book is by far the best yet - both thrilling, thought-provoking and imaginative. I am highly confident readers will utterly love reading this book! I did!!!!

Narration plus story equals FUN!

This was the 9th book in the Gryphon Chronicles series and focused mainly on the war between good and evil, or as stated in the book, the Order and the Dark Druids. Don't even try to read this as a stand-alone. Start with Book One- The Lost Heir, focusing on a 12 yr old homeless pickpocket named Jake and his friend Dani who helps him survive in Victorian London. You'll love it no matter what age you are.

First what I didn't like:

1. Not much actually. The book was probably longer than it needed to be, but then again, I like detail, so I didn't mind too much.
2. People being eaten while alive seems a little too much violence for a middle school reader

What I liked:

1. Almost all of the characters that we've been introduced to in the previous 8 books were included in this book. We get to see how the characters grow and develop and their relationship to one another.

2. Some major plot lines that were introduced in the first book were finally resolved.
In fact, if the author had wanted, this easily could have been the last book in the series. But the author decided to tantalize us with fun and fresh new plot threads for us to follow into future books.

3. The Narration! Jake Benson is so good! He really brings the characters to life. I love his voice for the spider Malwort. Hilarious!

Sorry that I can't tell the story, but it would be all full of spoilers!

All the feels

This story is great and ties up all the dangling plot lines. The narrator is fantastic. His characters are excellent and his voice is soothing, a must in an audiobook.

The Best so far. A Great listen

It just keeps getting better and better. I enjoyed listening to the new book by EG Folley, "The Devil's Lair," and found it to be more than worth the wait. I discovered the series about Five years ago and purchased the first book. I fell in love with the series and could not get enough. I have enjoyed listening and relistening it and was looking forward to seeing how they ended the series. The Folleys have done a great job keeping the readers spellbound in this book. I could not put this quit listening to this book; I had to keep listening it until I finished it. I highly recommend it if you have enjoyed the earlier book or have not read any of this series. This is an excellent series for children or just children at heart.
While this book ends this part of the series, it promises to continue to do more significant and exciting things. Many answers come in this book that have been previewed in previous books, and I always wondered what would happen with them. The Foleys have done a great job setting up clues in previous books and then tying them all together in this last book while previewing future books.
Jake has outdone himself with the reading of this book. He just gets better and better with each book reads. His reading made me not want to quit listening to this book.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy stories or is looking for an excellent, fun series to read.

Another fantastic addition to this adventure!!!

I have been reading this series for a long time and now share it with my nieces and nephews! This chapter in Jake and his families adventures is thrilling and eventful.The narrator does a wonderful job bringing characters to life and the authors keep the story lively and enjoyable

Unique and Awesome

The Jake series has become a family favorite. The unique story lines, characters, events and frequent unpredictable plot twists keeps you on the edge of your seat. This series conclusion does not disappoint. I was surprised regarding the ending. It seemed a little anticlimactic.

Engaging Book

Loved this book and the whole series. I honestly have a hard time with books. Most books take too long for me to actually get into and want to finish reading or listening to this series grabbed not long after the the first 5 minutes good books and hard to put down.

Fantastic ending to an amazing series

This book was highly anticipated for me and many others. The final chapter in Jake’s adventure. He and his friends have dealt with so much, and it is finally all coming together!
This book was just as great as all the others. The narrator was awesome. The story had me on the edge of my seat several times. So much going on! Love, reunion, betrayal, bravery, stupidity…there were times I found myself yelling at the characters and other times where I was clapping and cheering them on.
I will forever love the Gryphon Chronicles. Read it. Listen to it. You will not be disappointed!

this was action packed, but I wish I stopped reading after the climax

The action in this book was very, very good. I was very surprised they could carry so much action for so long. The narrator did a great job. I understand growth and character arcs. But, I was just very disappointed in the ending for all the main characters. It seemed like a sad, hollow, and disappointing ending for all of the characters. To go from facing fierce battles and sticking together through all the terrible events and troubles as a team, but then to just have everyone fall/drift away. No one seems to get a happy ending. Everyone just seems to get to walk away into drudgery, especially Jake. I was left thinking it seemed like a very hollow and sad ending for all these people I had grown to care for over the series. After such amazing adventures, and now everyone just seems to be rather dull. I really wish I had just stopped reading after the final battle.
