In July 1970, actress Elaina Styles was slain in her rented Seattle mansion along with her husband and their son's nanny. Hard to follow

I have really been liking other books by this author, but for some reason I had a hard time keeping the story and characters straight in this particular book. It seemed a little bit convoluted. I still enjoyed it but was not able to get into the story as much.

HOLY PLOT TWIST!

Kevin O'Brien has a unique and interesting way of psychologically terrorizing listeners and his characters. His writing may be too long for some, but to get the plot and backstory into play, it is necessary. He is my new favorite author! I've listened to this book in one day - it was that good!

Another great story!

I started listening to these just because I live in Kittitas Co WA!! It's so fun to hear the names of so many places we're familiar with. Could you throw my little hometown of Thorp in one maybe? I'll be listening for sure. Love the twists and turns.

Sepentine, satisfying suspence with a heart

Another excellent, twisty, highly listenable effort from Kevin O'Brien. The fact that it was it's included in the plus catalog was a nice bonus.

Great narrator, twists, and turns

I liked the story line, background, build up, twists, and ending. Recommend as a next read.

A Hollywood-style tragedy

Some sort of misfortune seems to follow no matter where she goes, from right now to past events. Another thriller from O’Brien and a great performance from Yen

Like a wonderful puzzle!

I love the authors way of leading the reader to examine multiple angles before making a decision about something they think might happen and then either reexamine their vision or celebrate their accomplishment when the final picture is revealed! Excellent writing and voice!

The characters were well developed. I wanted to know what was going on.

A surprise but not outlandish.

Have you listened to any of Jonathan Yen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I haven't but he is a very good narrator and will definitely listen again.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

As a mother the story of the children was moving and terrifying as well as the dark desolate roads.
