Resumen del Editor

Following the success of At Blackwater Pond, this second CD from best-selling poet Mary Oliver contains a selection of 37 previously published poems and four as yet uncollected, read by the poet in her steady, magnetic voice. Oliver recites from the full range of her poetry - from her classic nature writing, to her verses for her mischievous bichon Percy, to her ever-deepening spiritual poems. Many Miles will be a most welcome addition to the collections of her fans.

Thoughtfulness, humor, wonder, and grief.

I had not read any Mary Oliver until my daughter recently recommended her to me. I have now enjoyed all the Mary Oliver Audible has to offer. I am sure her writing will not speak to everyone, but her themes and style were about as powerful for me as any poet I have read. There is a wonderful blending of thoughtfulness, humor, wonder, and grief.

The author's narration is wonderful and enhances every poem.

Nature lovers will enjoy hearing these poems.

Relaxing read akin to sitting outdoors on a sunny day taking in nature. If you like Robert Frost you'll like this.

Classic Oliver

Never a disappointment, always wonderful to hear her poetry in her own voice. Reading her beautiful reflections in print is one experience but having it read to you is such a treat!

Mary Oliver speaks

Is incredible to hear the poems of Mary Oliver as she speaks them so delicately from her own mouth. Thanks

Thank you for being slow & speaking of beauty.

Would you consider the audio edition of Many Miles to be better than the print version?

"The flowers I want to bring to you, still pale and wet" she says in her own voice, instead of touching finger over lines, and she does, a bouquet of reds and blues, brighter than any sunset. (Yes.)

What was one of the most memorable moments of Many Miles?

For me it is the little mice running through her imagery, next to the pine cone she brings to our hands, opening in a happy place, as poems bring us.

What about Mary Oliver’s performance did you like?

I love how with her poetry she proves the delightful point that poetry is relevant, that all of us need poetry, if well written, or if clunky and in our own minds, we still need the poetry. I love how she enters my mind.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Invitation to Happiness

Any additional comments?

The poem about water, so relevant, so important, proving the vitality of mystery.

First Mary Oliver audiobook

Oliver is a favorite. Hearing her is blessing. I do wish there was a longer break between poems.

Wish there were pauses between poems!

The poems are beautiful and beautifully read. I’m captivated by Mary’s work. However, the audio editing is frustrating! It doesn’t skip a beat between the end of one poem and the title of the next. There needs to be at least a few second pause. It really detracts from the listening experience.

The poetry is splendid

So is her reading of it, since her voice finds the sense of it before starting, before sending out the first syllable, as though deer and cloud had once again, once again passed in silence. Passed to look upon you and your issues that melt so quickly, so quickly.
Notice if you care to that the poem titles that appear below as she speaks, have usually mistaken the actual words for some other phonetic closeness. As though the computer had gone mad, and edited her work. No matter. For matter and it’s atoms turn to laugh upon your contenance, before bursting yet again, into tears for the fox along the road.

Beautiful

Lush prose, lovingly written and read by the author; what more can you ask for? My new favorite.
