Great Characters with page turning story Twists

As always I loved the setting on Navajo lands and liked the modern and ancient cultures that added to character and the story development. A powerful tale with several storyline.

The narration was hard for me to understand and many times I had to replay parts to make sure who was speaking.

More complicated plot line.

This was a very good Chee and Manuleto story. Although we’ve heard this narrator previously, the extra characters highlighted an issue. Jessica Matten seems to lack the range to give enough varying voices to the different characters. It made it hard to follow the story in places. Otherwise, another great story.

smooth transition into next stages for the characters.. love it every time Leaphorn enters the picture

Anne is doing a great job continuing her father‘s stories

I am so grateful that Anne is continuing the stories but from the female perspective. I can’t wait for the next book

always a good thing to read a new installment of a beloved series that continues a great tradition

Lost Bird

The rhythm. Anne’s writing voice brings me to the way. When she casually mentions the background I find myself already present already viewing already immersed in the scene.

Anne Hillerman’s knowledge and sensitive treatment of Navaho peoples and women’s issues are entwined with a enjoyable story.

I also enjoyed that Ms Hillerman expertly used the much loved characters created by her father Tony Hillerman. I am hoping that she has many more stories in store for her readers

Another superb plot....

Anne Hillerman delivered again. Great plot. Loved that Lt. Leaphorn was still integral to the story line.
Narration was very good, though changing voices was inconsistent.
Overall loved it.

Soothing voice, but...

I enjoyed the story, but the narration was a problem. Before you buy, listen to the sample. I found the narration, while soothing, mostly lacked inflection and didn't adequately reflect the characters or situaions. This makes character changes difficult, confusing and irritating. I finally abandoned the audio and read the book, which I liked.

Love the stories, characters and narration

Not a criticism… just a comment… pronunciation of Bernadette’s last name was different from previous books … seemed like there was a W sound previously …
