This story features slow-burn romantic interests, world-building, a cultivation system with LitRPG framework, making fun of cultivation tropes, powerful supporting characters who have their own motivations and backgrounds, and an MC who has potential, but is still growing in power. Be warned, there is some mild cussing from some of the characters, and the MC undergoes a great deal of personal growth in this book so that he will be in the place he needs to be for the rest of the series.

Great stuff

This was just a fun story with what is really a pg-13 rating. It had some elements of romance but no insta-love. It had a hero with power, but not so much that he was overwhelming. He just definitely hits above his weight class.

If I can finish, I may adjust the rating.

I'm about four hours in and struggling to keep going. The issue I'm having so far is how dumb the MC is in this book. I understand the idea of being ignorant or gullible, but the issue arises when you claim over and over to understand things then completely show the opposite. So far the series just appears to be making a puppet as the MC. Which isn't bad if the other characters can be interesting but so far they have no depth other than being "alpha" and manipulative.

Progression Fantasy at its finest!

The author constructed a well conceived story with characters to cheer for and a page turner plot. Five stars across the board!

Great new book!

Great new book from David Burke! Lots of progression not just as a litrpg but cultivation, 3d Female leads, interesting world, great narrators what more can you want? This novel is FTB doesn't take away from the budding romance that started.

A great start

Well, I had a whole thing written and managed to lose it. Since I've already read through book 3, I won't go into too many details to avoid spoilers. I will say it was nice to see the love interests were primarily motivated by their upbringing to not disappoint their sect leaders versus just "oh, he's the hero". The MC has his own issues with going from being trapped in a hospital bed to suddenly having 3 wives, one of which isn't exactly mentally stable. Both the MC and wives are trying to learn how to adapt to a new situation and it allows the story to grow much more organically.

I got hooked so quick

I love it when the MC understand that forced summoning is kidnaping and that any friendship he may form are with his jailers. A gilded cage is still a cage and I love it when the Mc doesn't back down from that belief. He had Some Cradle vibes with his mana power but that's not a bad thing. My only real complaint is from a spice author it had none all fade to black was kinda a letdown from the author.

Great story made better by great narration

Really liked the narrators. They brought the story to life. Wish the next book came out sooner in audio

Great start to a series and world

Good book that is setting up a great universe. It may not be for everyone, as the purchasing, listening and review of this is due to me being a Patreon supporter of the author who pointed out the lack of reviews. I like the story and the series and have purchased all three books and preordered the forth at the time of this review and plan on supporting this author on Patreon at least until this series is completed.

I really suck at reviews without spoiling but all I have to say is “this is lit!!!!!” I started the book yesterday but I already got book two and I’m already into it I just couldn’t wait for the audible 😂😂, stop stalling and spend that credit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Book with Great Narator

I really enjoyed this book. Good pacing and characters that are believable and have their own agency in general. There were times when their actions seemed counter logical but the story had setup a solid psychological reason to go that direction. Action was fast paced but didn't totally overshadow the character interaction and plot. Already bought the next version and will read soon.
