Storyteller, Artist, Naturalist with a deep connection to history, faith, family and the American West B.C. Walker has felt the pull of history his entire life. His family story is entwined with the building of America and a belief that anyone can forge a better future through hope, hard work and grit. They were amongst the earliest families to cross the seas from England to Massachusetts to seek a new world; some of these stalwart ancestors still lay buried in Boston Common. They were also in the first wave of settlers who heeded “The Call” of the Westward migration, finding a home in Utah. Later, Walker’s family moved to Idaho. Four generations of Walkers rest side-by-side in the Lewisville Idaho Cemetery. Visiting these cemeteries with their silent markers imbued young B.C. with a sense of wonder and curiosity about those that came before. Surely their lives were rich, vibrant and more than the few words inscribed on those gravestones? Thinking about the landscapes they encountered, the challenges they endured and the passions that drove them fueled his imagination. It inspired in him a keen desire to write about that vanished time and also to observe and chronicle the natural environment and the fullness of people’s lives today.
