Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling author Sylvain Reynard comes the first novel in the Gabriel's Inferno series, a haunting, unforgettable tale of one man’s salvation and one woman’s sensual awakening - now a film from Passionflix!

Enigmatic and sexy, Professor Gabriel Emerson is a well-respected Dante specialist by day, but by night he devotes himself to an uninhibited life of pleasure. He uses his notorious good looks and sophisticated charm to gratify his every whim, but is secretly tortured by his dark past and consumed by the profound belief that he is beyond all hope of redemption.

When the sweet and innocent Julia Mitchell enrolls as his graduate student, his attraction and mysterious connection to her not only jeopardizes his career, but sends him on a journey in which his past and his present collide.

An intriguing and sinful exploration of seduction, forbidden love, and redemption, Gabriel’s Inferno is a captivating and wildly passionate tale of one man’s escape from his own personal hell as he tries to earn the impossible - forgiveness and love.

Brilliant writing and story

If you could sum up Gabriel's Inferno in three words, what would they be?

Perfect mix of pure fun and truly thought provoking, A masterpiece!

Any additional comments?

I thoroughly enjoyed listening .My only minor complaint it is ,when the narrator continues to read a supplementary information placed in parenthesis ,to emphasize the actions or a situations, instead of interpreting them.I would like this to be fixed if it is possible .

Great poetic romance story!

This book took a couple chapters to get into (mostly getting use to the narrator), but once I did I fell in love. The book is a love story with two characters who have flaws (just like the normal person) and begin to relate to one another. It is poetic because of the religious and poetic insights the author adds and really makes you think about your own thinking on life and another point of view of things. I found it insightful and wanting to expand my reading genres. It is your typical love story though of a man with money with controlling tendencies and a woman with low self-esteem, but the back story of why they are like this is more natural and relatable. I hope everyone views it the same as I do if you can look past the cliches.

I Really Liked This Book

In the beginning of the book, I thought I was reading a Fifty Shades clone. The characters were a little too predictable, and too good to be true. Gabriel, like Christian Grey from Fifty Shades, was abused as a young child and then adopted by the perfect family. When we meet him, he is an emotionally damaged thirty-something man with a past, with the perfect body. Julia, a younger, shy, beautiful girl, (just once it would be nice to read a book where the characters are average looking) grew up in a broken home, and is herself emotionally damaged. The difference between "Gabriel's Inferno" and "Fifty Shades" is that this book is much more erotic. It doesn't get too graphic. There is no S&M stuff, and the love scenes are very sensual without being vulgar.

This book was a little long for my taste. The author could have explored some other areas of the plot a little more, and broken this into two books. I haven't read "Gabriel's Rapture" yet though. So perhaps by the end of ithat book my questions will be answered.

I have listened to 100's of romance books and this has to be the sweetest. So worth the credit.

Gabriel is out of this world amazing...

If you could sum up Gabriel's Inferno in three words, what would they be?

Passionate. Intense. Mesmerizing.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Gabriel's Inferno?

The moment he realizes who Julia is.

Which character – as performed by John Morgan – was your favorite?

Gabriel!!!! OMG John's voice is like sex wrapped in chocolate and dipped in sin - he's fabulous!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Wanted to...yes! Very addictive.

Any additional comments?

AMAZING writing with compelling characters and a fantastic plot - the start to an amazing trilogy.

Oooh, good one!

This starts out very slowly. The first third of the book was actually pretty dull. Gabriel, the male lead, was a cold jerk and rather disinteresting, and not much was happening. It was hard to see what all the fuss was about. Things undergo a radical transformation after that though, and from there on out I was hooked!

This is a slow burner of a romance. Lots of long conversations, soul-searching, time spent in classrooms and academic settings, things like that. There’s more emotional heat than physical for much of the book. And some of the things related to the main characters’ shared history and following behavior are a little…improbable, but I was willing to let that go. It’d need to be really, to hint at the story of Dante and Beatrice.

Add all these things together and I can see how this seems to be hit or miss for a lot of readers. For me it was a BIG hit – enough for a relisten, and I don’t do that often! If a slow-building romance in an academic setting sounds like it’d suit your style, give it a shot!

Overall, very emotionally involving, and hot without being degrading which was a refreshing change!

The narrator was wonderful. He caught all the nuances of the story just right and has a great voice.

Probably good, but not for me

What did you like best about Gabriel's Inferno? What did you like least?

I could not find myself inside this story. It was clearly written from a female's perspective and I could not relate to much of the feelings.

Would you ever listen to anything by Sylvain Reynard again?

Probably

What aspect of John Morgan’s performance would you have changed?

I liked the performance

Could you see Gabriel's Inferno being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

It should not me made into a movie

This might be my favorite book ever!

Would you listen to Gabriel's Inferno again? Why?

Oh yes and I can't wait for the next book!

What other book might you compare Gabriel's Inferno to and why?

There really is no other book that I have read that compares to this one. It does, however , make me curious about actually reading some of Dante's work to understand more of what the characters were talking about and the story behind it.

What about John Morgan’s performance did you like?

Hi voice is sexy and sensual and perfect for Gabriel. He did all of the characters voices very well and I always knew exactly who was talking. He's one of the few male narrators that doesn't make the female characters sound like simpering idots.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This was so wildly good that at one point I woke up at three in the morning and had to finish a chapter before I could go back to sleep.

Any additional comments?

This is the most delicious book I have ever read. It's a hopeless romantics dream, redemption, second chances and true love.

Beautiful story about love.

I fell in love again reading this story. I only wish that I could experience this in real life. I'm ready for part 3 of the movie now.
