Publisher's summary

One night changed everything....

Daphne’s a beauty who doesn’t know it. A wallflower blossoming into the belle of the ball. A beautiful lie. My lifelong obsession. Her father stole from me and now I’ll have my revenge.

I’ll steal her away, take her to my castle. Lock her in my tower. Make her a captive to her passions. She’ll crave the one who keeps her. She’ll crave me. I’m the masked phantom in the shadows. The Minotaur in the labyrinth. The danger her father warned her about. More monster than man.

She’s Beauty, and I’m the Beast.

Note: This is a dark romance. It is the first in a trilogy.

Beauty and the Beast

I just listened to Beauty's Beast on Audible. It's a great story. Very steamy! Beast takes Beauty to his "castle" and keeps her there. He's out for revenge. She is very innocent. Cliffhanger warning. Two more books in this series.
The narrators (2) did a good job. Their voices are nice to listen to. I did feel like they read too slow. I wanted the story to move along faster. Maybe because this is such a busy time of year.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Female voice!!

So I have not yet finished but I would like to say I am severely disappointed in the fact that the female voice reader BUTCHERED the last name of my favorite characters from the dark mafia romance. WHO IS THE OOBULLIES?! Because I don’t know who they are. And she continues to mess it up so bad it makes me physically angry that it’s hard to focus on the book itself. WHY DID NO ONE CORRECT HER BEFORE SENDING THIS TO PUBLISH?! Ugh 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’ll write another review or update this one after I finish the story. I am extremely in love with Lee and Stasia so it’s nothing against them or their book I love their writing and they are brilliant! But the female voice infuriates me to no end!

Dark Beauty & the Beast retelling

I am sucker for fairy tale retellings, especially if they are dark. So naturally Beauty's Beast was on my tbr as soon as I saw it. I have the ebook, but listened to the audio book. Unfortunately I feel like that lessened my experience a little bit. Not because the narrators were bad, they weren't, in fact, they were great for their characters. However, it did reinforce how naive Daphne is. Had I been reading the book, my mind could have adjusted her a bit, but with the audio there was no escaping it and that naivety got on my nerves. The book ends on a cliffhanger, and I'm honestly not sure if I was engaged enough to continue the series.

The Beast & Daphne's Dark & Steamy Story!

The Beast And Daphne's Story Is A Dark And Steamy Reimagined Beauty And The Beast Story Set In New Olympus And Infused With A Scientific Spin! Innocence Trilogy Fans Will Love It!

This is book one in the Beauty and the Rose trilogy, which is a steamy modern spin on Beauty and the Beast. It takes place in the fictional New Olympus.

Fans of the Innocence trilogy, Marcus and Cora’s story, will appreciate a little crossover between the two trilogies.

The story takes place in New Olympus. It revolves around Belladonna, a research company that until recently was headed by Dr. Piers Laurel. The company's original mission was to find a cure for Battleman's disease, the illness that Dr. Laurel's wife fought and which eventually took her life.

Dr. Daphne Laurel, twenty-six, has devoted her career to research. She lost her mother to Battleman’s disease and hopes to find a cure for others. Her father’s recent illness, though, has brought uncertainty to Belladonna. The company is struggling. Daphne has stepped into the CEO shoes in her father’s absence, but she is out of her comfort zone and the Board is looking for change. Daphne paints a positive picture of her father’s condition to anyone who asks after him, as she hopes that will buy her time with the Board.

Devoted to her research, Daphne has no social life. In fact, she has never had a boyfriend. She does happen to have a secret admirer of sorts, though. Every year since her eighteenth birthday, she finds a single rose. It never comes with a note or a hint of the identity of her admirer. She has wondered if it might be her father, but has ruled it out.

Daphne has attended the Autumn Gala since she was a teen, and this year is no different. The high society event has her representing the company and rubbing elbows with New Olympus’s finest. Marcus and Cora Ubeli, in particular, have been pivotal to Belladonna’s success with their generous donations over the years. Adam Archer, heir to Archer Industries, a billion dollar empire, seems a little more interested in Daphne than usual this night. He had conducted research at Belladonna, along with Daphne, until he left to run his father’s company. She has been working with him recently in an effort to save Belladonna. They are discussing a possible merger. Adam’s vision for the company is broader than just diseases. He has influenced the Board over the years, driving them into the more profitable cosmetics industry.

The Beast, thirty-five, is going to re-balance the scales of justice, beginning on the night of the Autumn Gala. The masks donned by attendees provide the perfect opportunity for him to blend in with the crowd. He hates the arrogance on display, but he will put them all in their place soon enough. He wonders if Daphne liked his rose this year. She is beautiful but naïve – and it is entirely too easy to lure her away to his castle. He wants everything from her. But first, he must determine if she has been corrupted, or if she is the same innocent beauty that he fell for so many years ago.

The Beast and Daphne's story begins dark and steamy as the Beast dishes out Daphne's punishment. They are lost in erotica as they work through their trust issues. They have incredible chemistry together. The mystery of the Beast’s identity adds to the erotic nature of their non-traditional romance. The Beast’s character is complex (as expected). His two personas – the old and the new – are radically different. But Daphne, sheltered as her life has been, handles both fairly well. The Beast is a dominant alpha male, and Daphne discovers things about herself while under his care. The couple must find a bridge from their past while earning one another’s trust. The Beast has a vendetta, and Daphne plays a role in it, one way or another. But her innocence and sincerity surprise him, and soon he finds that it is she that has captured his heart. This book ends in a cliffhanger that leads to book two in the series, Beauty and the Thorns.

The Beast and Daphne's story is a mix of erotica and complex storylines. It is well-written. The plot is complex. The characters are well-defined. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between the Beast and Daphne. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

As for the Audio: it is well-performed. For those reading the book, the prologue and epilogue are absent, but it doesn't affect the story. The prologue is repeated within the story itself, and what is learned from the epilogue is covered in book two of the series.

BDSM Beauty and the Beast

I'm a total sucker for Beauty and the Beast stories. In this contemporary take our Beauty, Daphne, is a scientist looking for a cure for the disease that killed her mother. Beast is a damaged man who has seriously sexy control issues and a history with Daphne although she doesn't know who he is. I enjoyed the two narrators reading style. This is a series and so it ends on a cliff hanger. Can't wait for book two!

"Take As Old As Time", With A New Twist!

I've read (and been satisfied by) quite a few of Stasia Black's books, but hearing this story (and a tag team story with Lee Savino at that!) is an auditory feast! And WHAT a story! Daphne's father, desiring to find a cure to the disease that took his wife, has inadvertently made prisons for his daughter and her heart's desire, Derek (now Beast). Derek was disposed of for opposing the corporation's greed while Daphne was sequestered for her scientific knowledge, but socially and sexually stunted to any other interactions. Daphne and Beast do eventually gain a momentary freedom with each other. But making it last without further harming their bruised hearts will challenge them even more.

I was not prepared for how well the narrators' voices fit their respective characters. Hearing Daphne's introverted innocence and Beast's thunderous need to regain his life as a man kept me spellbound and present in the unfolding story. I'll have no choice but to continue because I can't imagine finishing the trilogy without hearing them finish their journey!
