Publisher's summary

Ethan Blackstone has a problem on his hands. He’s broken Brynne's trust, and she’s left him. He's unwilling to live without her and isn’t giving up - he's dead-set on getting his beautiful American girl back.

The passion between them was explosive, but the secrets they hid from each other are dark and chilling, and are powerful enough to destroy their shot at a life together. With political threats now directed at Brynne, Ethan is running out of time and will need to gather all his strength and agility to protect her from the dangers that could take her away from him forever.

Will Ethan be able to save Brynne from a past that keeps her locked in fear? Will he ever feel the warmth of her touch, the solidity of her trust again? This is a lovestruck man who is willing to do whatever it takes to possess the heart of the woman he loves. He'll go to any lengths to protect her. He'll go all in.

Here is the fiery story of what happens when two people surrender to a love so great it can heal the scars of the past and give way to a life of pure, rapturous ecstasy.

One word...Gala

This one is from Ethan's point of view. The prologue is from Brynne's and honestly kind of gives away what will happen. This book has more development and we get to learn about what happened to Brynne and Ethan, as Ethan's past haunts him after the breakup with Brynne, with nightmares that drag her into his past, merging the old wounds with the new in a new torture. We meet his cousin and her great aunt (who apparently doesn't look her age which I found very odd). And there is a gala. For anyone who has read books in this genre, you know what happens when there is a gala. I'm fairly certain at this point there is some kind of rule, that you can't write this kind of book without following that one specific rule. This book ends on a small cliffhanger, with bomb threats, a sick Brynne (was she poisoned? Drugged? Pregnant? Something is up) a death threat and poor Ethan feeling like the world may emplode. There is some spice, lots of possessiveness and alpha male craziness and stubborn female stupidity. Still a good book but the first is still my favorite.

Review: The Blackstone Affair # 2: All In

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

*Smiles* I have recommended this book to every friend I have that reads if they haven't already read it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ethan Blackstone is my favorite character. He is such a strong alpha caveman with such depth of emotion and feeling it's almost hard to unite the two. Unless of course you are Brynne Bennett.

What about Shane East and Grace Grant ’s performance did you like?

I have heard Grace Grant before when listening to Beautiful Bastard and Beautiful Stranger by Christina Lauren and I really liked her performance then. She becomes the character without overdoing it and allows the story to play out in your mind with such ease it's a pleasure to listen to her.

Shane East - Well, I'm English. I grew up hearing English accents, they were NO BIG DEAL! The past 20 years spent in the United States, however, has caused me to find immense pleasure in listening to a crisp accent like Shane's. His voice conveyed the attitude and magnetism that I envisioned Ethan Blackstone as having, perfectly! An absolute pleasure to listen to. (A double entendre MAY have been intentional in that one.)

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The moment that moved me emotionally was when Ethan woke up from his nightmare with Brynne their to help him pull himself back together.

The funniest moment was his inner monologue on the pitfalls of a steady relationship when the female is experiencing her menstrual cycle or "dead week" as he called it.

Nothing really happened....

Sometimes I blame the narrator if a book just falls flat to me, but in this case it was the writing. I feel like someone told the writer “Okay your first book was full of hot scenes, but it was less than 4 hours long, so can you draw out this middle book so we can have a big finish?”

If you asked me what happened in this book I would say…well…Ethan showed his possessive side a bunch, and we learned more about Brynne’s past and why she is skittish…but other than that, and the hot graphic scenes, not so much in 6 hours! It was very much the middle of the story, laying down background information that I guess will be useful in the next book, but not sure.

I will of course buy the third book to find out what happens, but In the future I would link all the books as one book and call it like it is "a serial novel", not independent books. On a side note I did find it amusing that they referenced 50 actually IN this book, not by name of course, but it is clear what book they are referring to, and it made me kind of smile and also kind of confirmed that 50 was the grain of thought behind this book, but it just isn't reaching the mark.

The calm before the storm!

Would you consider the audio edition of All In to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version.

What did you like best about this story?

The reunion of Ethan and Brynne......

Did Shane East and Grace Grant do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Grace narrated book 1 and I really love her..even her Ethan is superb. Shane narrated book 2 and though his Ethan was good, his Brynne was not the best.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No this was a pretty mellow book with a lot of history of the characters coming out and the ending really, really leaves you hanging....I thought the battery to my ipod went dead, but there is a book 3 isn't there!

The UK "Shades of Grey"

I enjoyed the whole series. But then I love Shane East's voice, too. Overall the book was good. Big twist. The UK "Shades of Grey" would have been a good title, but the female lead has more depth than that of Shades.

The sex is far more graphic and doesn't really add to the story. The story seems to have been written as one complete book and cleaved into 3 books by the publisher or editor. But it masterfully ends each book in a way that set the author up well for series sales and makes the reader want to know what is next.

I love this series, but they're too short.

I with authors would get back to writing whole books instead of splitting the books into parts. Good read and I love the guy reading it, he has an amazing voice.
