Theological Education

Theological Education demonstrates how churches and seminaries can cooperate through a competency-based learning approach to ministry preparation-that is, competency-based theological education (CBTE). CBTE focuses on the mutual mission of the church and theological education: developing followers of Christ who flourish in their vocations.

Seminary is an important step toward ministry - but only when you make the most of it. Many seminarians finish their education with regrets and missed opportunities. They feel spiritually drained, they never connected with their professors or colleagues, they are plagued with a long list of “what ifs?”, and worry they wasted this time.

In these few pages, I would like to set forth some ideas of my own. Most of these ideas are not new in themselves. Many are only an adaptation of what other missions are and have done in the past. I do not want these ideas to be construed as the final product but only ideas that need to be discussed and matured before they can be totally useful to the Spanish scene. A Collection of Monographs is a group of papers which my wife, Linda, and I wrote some thirty plus years ago on a variety of subjects. The papers are on Theological Education in Spain, The Paraguayan Mission, Medical Work in Paraguay, and church planting.
