Chinese Theater

China-Burma-India is one of the most forgotten theaters of World War 2. As the United States entered the war after Pearl Harbor, it looked to China as a source of manpower as well as a base for bombers and a way to eventually invade Japan. The Japanese, British, Americans, and Chinese each had their own motivations and policies in the Pacific that would ultimately lead to the involvement of Burma in the Pacific War. The conflict in Burma was an intricate affair that may be best understood through the story of the first Yunnan Expedition into Burma.

Leah Ly a driven, exceptionally talented, Chinese-American actress, working her way through Hollywood’s system, determined to make it on her own, involved with an equally driven Jewish man, discovers she has a Chinese fiancé, arranged at her birth when the Hong Kong businessman comes to LA to meet her. Life collides with life and Leah finds herself unhappy, torn, and conflicted between the love of two men she loves dearly and her heart's greatest desire, as she learns that in all things, she's the key to her happiness or unhappiness.

If the Chinese people were to file one by one past a given point, the interesting procession would never come to an end. The importance, as a factor in the sum of human affairs, of this vast nation, - of its language, of its literature, of its religions, of its history, of its manners and customs, - goes therefore without saying. Yet a serious attention to China and her affairs is of very recent growth.
