With most of the police force of Upland, Arizona out of town, conman Burdick and his gang--Janet, his Navajo girlfriend; Rubin, a burglar 'extraordinaire' who lives with his mother; Carlos, a car thief; Glover, a loner living off government aid; Doc, retired from Northern Arizona University and bored--bungle their way to a possible two-hundred-thousand-dollar cash booty hidden in a very strange place. They set up camp in a dilapidated barn where they confront and contend with Obama (a very large rooster and his hens (the Dixie Chicks).

Mayhem pursues J.C., an aging and washed-up pool player, who steals cash from an unprofessional, sexually deviant hitman named Black Berry. He wants it back. The money, however, belongs to Juan Hernandez and the Mexican Cartel. They want it back. With Black Berry hot on their heels, J.C. and his thirteen-year-old pool playing prodigy son, Kid, head for the small town of Upland, Arizona.

Along with drugs and guns, Juan Hernandez smuggles hundreds of illegal immigrants into the US with delusions of taking back the southwest for Mexico, and of course for himself. Juan hires Private Investigator/Bounty Hunter (and novice pool player) Richard “Big Dick” Bigg to find and bring back (dead or alive) his second kidnapped wife. Juan’s first wife was kidnapped four years earlier and died in a house that exploded as the FBI closed in.

Holly Forkner disappears. Upland, Arizona Chief of Police Troy Forkner, Holly's husband, scours the wilderness of northern Arizona, first by air then on the ground, looking for her. Officer Nina Miller believes the perpetrator had an accomplice who may be hiding Holly in a motor home at the Upland reservoir. Nina's partner, Rookie Officer Pike Tso, a Navajo Indian, believes Navajo spirits or skinwalkers may have abducted Holly. Sheriffs Deputy Thomas Justman takes advantage of the situation and implicates a loner Indian in Holly's disappearance.

In a land of towering pyramids and sun-scorched sands, a cruel Pharaoh declares that every newborn Hebrew boy must be cast into the great Nile River. But one mother, driven by fierce love, places her son in a woven basket and sets him adrift, entrusting his fate to the waters. Discovered by an Egyptian princess, the baby is named Moses and raised as a prince in the dazzling splendor of the royal palace. He lives a life of unimaginable luxury, a world away from the suffering of his hidden people.

Private Investigator Richard "Bigg Dick" Bigg, while taking a break from a dead-end Las Vegas suicide case of a lover and ex-Vegas girl, attends a private Nine-Ball tournament on the Mogollon Rim in northern Arizona. A fellow competitor is shot and plunges a thousand feet over the rim to his death, and longtime friend JC Forkner is charged with the murder. Dick must prove JC's innocence and runs into another dead-end case.
