Tarzan vainly attempts to impress on his ape tribe the necessity of maintaining a strict watch against the hazards and perils surrounding them. To drive home the lesson, he dons a lionskin he has taken from Mbonga's village and suddenly appears among them, only to find them more vigilant than he had thought, as they mob him and nearly beat him to death. "Tarzan and the Golden Lion" is an adventure novel by American writer Edgar Rice Burroughs, the ninth in his series of twenty-four books about the title character Tarzan. It was first published as a seven part serial in Argosy All-Story Weekly beginning in December 1922; and then as a complete novel by A.C. McClurg & Co. on March 24, 1923.

From the blazing skies of Cyrenaica to the ground war in Abyssinia to the jungles of occupied Malaya, World War II echoes from these eight stories of adventure featuring Tarzan and Korak. Most of the tales in Tarzan and the Lion of Judah revolve around the Second Italo-Abyssinian War of 1935-1936, when Emperor Haile Selassie, the Negus of Ethiopia, impressed the world by standing up with his native army against fascist Prime Minister Benito Mussolini’s mechanized forces.

Disappointment in love, in this volume, results in his return to the jungle where he has many strange adventures and whence he is again led forth by love, this time happy love.

The Son of Tarzan is Edgar Rice Burroughs' fourth novel in the Tarzan series. First serialized between 1915 and 1916 in All-Story Weekly, it was published as a novel in 1917. Narrowly surviving his encounter with his enemy Tarzan in The Beasts of Tarzan, Alexis Paulvitch has a score to settle. "The Return of Tarzan" is the second "Tarzan" novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Tarzan is 22 years old. The ape man, feeling rootless in the wake of his noble sacrifice of his prospects of wedding Jane Porter, leaves America for Europe to visit his friend Paul d'Arnot. On the ship, he becomes involved in the affairs of Countess Olga de Coude, her husband, Count Raoul de Coude, and two shady characters attempting to prey on them, Nikolas Rokoff and his henchman Alexis Paulvitch.

The Jungle Tales of Tarzan, book six of the Tarzan series, consists of 12 short stories loosely connected to each other, although each one can stand on its own. They fill in many details of Tarzan's youth and adolescence in the jungle, while still living with the tribe of great apes that reared him. Mr. Burroughs, much like Gene Roddenberry half a century later, was able to make very trenchant comments on our life and society by setting his stories outside our normal recognizable world.

In the sequel to Tarzan of the Apes, Tarzan has given up on marrying Jane Porter and is quickly dissatisfied with his life among human society. After facing several humans who scheme to kill him, he decides to return to the jungles of Africa to be in the environment he was raised in once more. Along the way, he hears rumors about a lost city of gold hiding among the trees and sets off with newfound friends to pursue the treasure, unaware of the dangers surrounding the lost city.
