Her latest book “True West: Myth & Mending on the Far Side of America” explores how myths of the American West fuel modern polarization, extremism, and conflict over land and identity.

Betsy’s area of expertise is extremism and land disputes in Western communities, so the conversation touches on Ruby Ridge and the Bundy family all the way to January 6 and beyond.
