In the movie Contact, Dr. Ellie Arroway is a radio astronomer who listens to radio emissions from space hoping to find evidence of alien civilizations. She eventually discovers a radio signal repeating a sequence of prime numbers sent from the Vega star system, an undisputed message from advanced extraterrestrials. So, how realistic is a situation like this? Where does science stand on making contact with aliens?
