Faith is rarely a straight line. We often imagine life with God as predictable and smooth, but most meaningful journeys include detours, challenges, surprises, and moments that stretch our trust.
This week’s message reminded us that when the Holy Spirit leads, we are invited to step beyond comfort and into courage. Drawing from Paul and Barnabas’ first journey, we see a pattern repeated again and again: opportunity and opposition travel together. Doors open, lives change, but there are also misunderstandings, disappointments, resistance, and moments where plans fall apart.
Yet the gospel keeps moving forward. Not because people are perfect or fearless, but because they remain obedient to God’s call. Paul and Barnabas did not stay where it was safe or familiar. They ventured out, trusted God with the unknown, and returned with stories of lives transformed and faith strengthened.
As a church and as individuals, we are reminded that growth does not happen if we stay where we are. When the Spirit says go, the invitation is to trust, to step out, and to believe that God is already at work ahead of us.
