Unholy: Two Jews on the News

De: Unholy Media
  • Resumen

  • Yonit Levi of Israel's Channel 12 News and Jonathan Freedland of The Guardian are two of the most prominent journalists in the world today. They are also Jews. Each week, join what MSNBC's Rachel Maddow calls "two great, smart smart smart hosts" as they dissect and debate current events shaping Israel, Jewish life - and the wider world. Their blend of nuanced discussion and sparkling conversation, featuring a dazzling range of guests, is why New Yorker editor David Remnick calls himself a “proud, avid listener," why Ira Glass says he "completely enjoys this show" and why Malcolm Gladwell calls it an "incredibly fun podcast". For a weekly fix of globally informed talk – including nominations for the greatest act of chutzpah and outstanding mensch of the previous seven days – there’s only one destination. A solemn week for Israel, marked by mourning – and yet politics, as ever, presses on. At the centre: a widening rift between Prime Minister Netanyahu and the head of the Shin Bet, Israel’s domestic intelligence agency.

In our conversation this week, we widen the lens. Sam Harris – neuroscientist, bestselling author and host of the Making Sense podcast – joins us to talk religion, politics and the elusive art of clear thinking in a time of sound and fury. Plus: our Chutzpah of the Week award goes to those who seem to have forgotten the basic dignity owed to the sick, while our Mensch accolade is shared by two groups standing firm in defence of their values – even when it’s hardest.

Sam Harris is a neuroscientist, philosopher, and bestselling author known for his work on ethics, religion, and the human mind. He is the host of the popular podcast Making Sense, and the founder of the Waking Up app, which combines meditation practice with insights from science and philosophy.

Netanyahu's PODCAST

I use to listen to this every week. I just shut it down in middle and I am ready to say goodbye. The whole podcast basically feels like news about Netanyahu. There are more political, social and civic figures in Israel that might be worth the attention. This podcast was an awesome idea. Really unfortunate that all you can talk about is one person. All your questions are about one person, you even try to drive your guests to "say something about Netanyahu". Something is rotten here.
