  • No Family Values Allowed in the NFL!
    May 28 2024

On May 11, Harrison Butker, a devout Roman Catholic, and a kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, gave a commencement speech at Benedictine College to talk about traditional Catholic values.

Butker praised his wife for being a homemaker. This made the wokesters in the media pull out their hair.

Although I am not Roman Catholic, I agree with what Butker said about his wife and defend him against his critics.

He also has his supporters, including the family of the CEO of his NFL team. We also hear from Bill Maher and Sage Steele.

  • The Only "Tax" Government Wants to "Repeal"
    May 20 2024

We have heard the saying that the two most certain things are death and taxes. Rarely do governments repeal any of the many taxes they impose.

However, a bunch of politicians in Congress and some in the Senate want to "repeal" a certain "tax" as a matter of social justice. This "tax" is the so-called "pink tax."

Because women may pay more on average for certain products and services than men, activists call this extra expense the "pink tax." Congress has proposed the "Pink Tax Repeal Act" for the fifth time! Perhaps they will finally "repeal" the "pink tax."

Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey has studies showing female products with higher prices than similar non-female products. Is this because companies like to oppress women and gouge them for more money?

In this episode we look at some products and services to see if there aren't other explanations for why prices can differ.

We observe King Ahab whining that Naboth won't sell him a particular vineyard at the price Ahab offered as a Biblical example for why Christians shouldn't fall for victim mentality schemes like the "pink tax."

The "pink tax" is not a tax, and we don't need a law with chilling effects to "repeal" it.

  • The Faith of a Christian Mother
    May 13 2024

My wife Chelsea returns after several weeks to co-host with me again for a Mother's Day episode.

First, we see how current dictionaries define mother.

Next, we discuss mothers in various situations and how Mother's Day may be difficult for some mothers.

Finally, we look at the examples of Lois and Eunice (Timothy's grandmother and mother respectively) and how a Christian mother's nurturing faith can endure for generations.

  • Clown World Antisemitism!
    May 6 2024

Looking at the recent "pro-Palestine" protesters taking over college campuses and setting up tent encampments, I observe their strange an nuanced demands.

Many of the protesters don't even know why they're protesting!

The reason these college kids oppose Israel and "support Palestine" seems not because they're intrinsically antisemitic, but because they've been indoctrinated with cultural Marxism.

Cultural Marxism and any other manifestation of Marxism is destructive and degrading. The solution is the gospel of Jesus Christ.

This Saturday our church hosted an annual pinewood derby called the AWANA Grand Prix.

Racing a wooden car down a track reminded me of Paul's admonition to run the Christian race with patience.

  • California FIRES its FRIES!: The Tragedy of Minimum Wage Activism
    Apr 15 2024

April 1, 2024 was no April Fool's Day for many fast food workers in California. When a new law went into effect promising a $20 minimum wage for fast workers, many found themselves worse off. Slashed hours or even laid off, young people felt betrayed by pipe dream politics.

The law included a controversial carve out that benefits some food chains at the expense of others. And laws like California's updated FAST Recovery Act devastate the people they proport to help.

Is a coercive minimum wage even a Biblical concept? Especially one far above what employers and young employees would naturally agree on? The Bible strongly supports covenants and keeping one's promises. Jesus' parable of the vineyard workers explains that wage agreements are valid, and that graciously paying more is the owner's discretion. Political middlemen need not apply.

  • Is Richard Dawkins a "Christian"?
    Apr 8 2024

In an interview on April 1, Richard Dawkins gave an "Easter message" in an interview.

Expressing his concern about the spread of Islam in the UK, Dawkins called himself a "cultural Christian." He likes to live in a "Christian culture" but he is "not a believer" and doesn't "believe a word of the Christian faith."

While some claim this is a "change" from Dawkins' past, I remain skeptical.

Let's look at some verses in the Bible to see if claiming to be a "cultural Christian" makes one a "Christian" in any meaningful way.
