    In the 13th century, Snorri Sturluson wrote down what reads less like mythology and more like a contact report: a group called the Æsir arrived from the east carrying a specific suite of abilities - shapeshifting, astral travel, seiðr magic, berserk invulnerability, songs that could open the earth - and they taught these abilities to a priesthood that spread them across Scandinavia for centuries.

    David Lovegrove has been re-translating the Old Norse texts and cross-referencing them with his own decades of practice in Chinese internal kung fu and Indian yoga, and the parallels are too specific to dismiss.
