  • …And Then There’s Therapeutic Storytelling
    Feb 9 2023

There is a story out there for every heart. And not just any story but the right story that will connect with that particular heart. All stories are therapeutic but to know which story will work for which listener, you need to be present and mindful. One should pay attention to the needs of the listener and understand things that are said as well as unsaid.

In today’s episode of To Huaa Yon, Sharlie Wason discusses how therapeutic storytelling can help children to restore a feeling of wholeness and navigate their way towards finding balance. She also shares that as ‘therapeu’ in Latin means to listen closely and intently, that is exactly what a teacher, counselor, parent or therapist must do when a child is in ‘special need’.

Dive into today’s episode to know about:

    • How therapeutic storytelling can cater to a child’s urgent and long term needs
    • How you can cater to various issues of a child like aggression, hitting, stubbornness, dishonesty, low self esteem, divorce, separation anxiety, grief, unsafe touch and even acne through therapeutic storytelling .
    • Learn ways to encourage children to open their hearts and share about what they are feeling which can stop the situation from magnifying.

In Anything For You Baby segment:

    • How the NIP made Durga Puja stalls accessible
    • The government sought suggestions from the common man to improve the process of issuing UDID cards
    • Ashoka University organized FREE College Readiness Program for Students with Special Needs

In the To Huaa Yon segment:

Sharlie Wason shares a case study from Romania and the magical results of the Therapeutic Story told by the Researchers to a group of institutionalized adults with intellectual as well as speech difficulties.
