On April 1st, 1883 the "Man of a Thousand Faces", Lon Chaney Sr., was born.

The child of two deaf parents, this silent film star is regarded as one of the most versatile and powerful actors of cinema, renowned for his characterizations of tortured, often grotesque and afflicted characters - as well as his groundbreaking makeup artistry.

Among others, Lon Chaney Sr. is known for his starring roles in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Phantom of the Opera and London After Midnight.
