In this Podcast, spiritual teacher and author, Gautam Sachdeva, talks about the difference between the Thinking Mind and the Working Mind. He mentions that the Thinking Mind is the same as the Egoic mind, the mind with its tendency to go into the past or the future. Most of us are no longer in the present moment, which is the sacred moment where life is actually lived. The Working Mind, on the other hand, is the mind that is engaged in work. The Working Mind is always attentive and in the present moment. A working mind in this mode is a meditative mind because it is not going all over the place, but at the same same, one cannot keep the Working Mind active and engaged all the while. Gautam talks about how one is identified with mental activity, and one can move from the Thinking mind to the Working mind mode in a balanced way, and if this is not possible immediately, then one can begin this journey by understanding and observing the Thinking mind and how it operates. This will slowly take one into awareness and residing in the sacred present moment where life is not only lived, but created. 00:00 - Intro 00:37 - Characteristics of the Thinking Mind 2:04 - Life is lived in the Now, in the present moment 2:39 - The Working Mind 3:23 - In the Thinking Mind mode or Working Mind mode? 4:41 - A surgeon at work, example of Working Mind mode 5:06 - The surgeon may slip into the Thinking Mind mode 6:02 - The thrill of extreme sports 8:30 - Inability to sit still 12:20 - The policeman's comment on Eckhart's talk 13:50 - Being still and witnessing 14:51 - A still mind is a mind at peace 15:30 - Thinking mind to working mind, transcending the mind 19:13 - Identification of the Self with external things 19:25 - A Sage makes no distinctions 23:45 - Being a witness, being aware More about Gautam Sachdeva at https://www.GautamSachdeva.com
