Addressing the lusts of the flesh according to the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible involves understanding and applying the teachings found in Scripture to overcome sinful desires in various aspects of our lives. In Galatians 5:16-17, the Apostle Paul advises, "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would." This passage highlights the internal conflict between our sinful nature and the Holy Spirit. To combat the lusts of the flesh, believers are encouraged to live by the Spirit, allowing His guidance and strength to dominate their actions and thoughts. Further, Romans 13:14 exhorts, "But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof." By consciously choosing to follow Christ’s example and relying on His power, believers can resist temptations and cultivate a life that honors God.

In Psalm 2:1-3 of the King James Version (KJV), the psalmist poses a poignant question and provides insight into the behavior of the heathens: "Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us." This passage informs us that the heathens rage because they are rebelling against God's authority and rejecting His divine sovereignty. Their fury and plotting are rooted in a desire for independence from God's laws and an opposition to His anointed one, ultimately reflecting a deeper spiritual defiance and vanity. The psalmist underscores that this rebellion is futile, as it stands in opposition to the omnipotent and unchangeable will of God.

(1) “DECLARING THE UNKNOWN GOD”

In Acts 17:22-23 (KJV), Paul stands in the midst of Mars' hill and addresses the people of Athens, who are known for their religiosity and their worship of many gods. Paul acknowledges their devotion but points out an altar with the inscription "TO THE UNKNOWN GOD." Using this as a starting point, Paul declares to them the identity of this unknown God. He explains that this God, whom they worship without knowing, is the Creator of the world and everything in it. Unlike the gods of gold, silver, or stone, made by human hands, the true God is not confined to temples or represented by material images. Paul emphasizes that God is near to each one of us and that in Him "we live, and move, and have our being" (Acts 17:28, KJV). This lesson highlights the importance of understanding and knowing the true nature of God and how he became a man to reconcile His relationship with His people and His creation. Through this, Paul reveals the identity and nature of the one true God to those who were previously unaware.
