When construction begins on a major roadway widening project it typically represents about 6 years’ worth of work to get to this point of the project. In fact, for the Houston Street widening project between Garnett Road and Olive Avenue, it actually began back in 2017 when it was first identified as a capital improvement project and placed on the 2018 General Obligation Bond that voters ultimately approved. The City has identified 26 subdivisions for roadway improvements as part of a $26 million investment in street rehabilitation projects during Fiscal Year 2025 and FY26. The Hidden Springs subdivision resurfacing project was recently completed as three others are currently underway in Stone Mill, Turtle Creek (Phase 2), and Brentwood neighborhoods.
