In this episode we answer two questions asked by our viewers: Why did God need so many Tzimtzumim (spiritual contractions) in order to create a stable world, couldn’t He just create it all at once in a safe way?  How does the world exist on Shabbos? We know that God worked for 6 days and rested on the seventh. What was the work during the 6 days? Speaking, because the world was built by speech. So if existence depends on speech, then either God is speaking on Shabbos, thereby doing work; or He stops speaking, and the whole reality disappears!? We then discuss the core concept of this episode - Bittul.  Bittul means when something becomes nothing. It gets nullified, dissolved within, and basically insignificant.

In this podcast we’ll take a closer look at how G-d brings all things into existence through His words. 

We know that G-d spoke the Ten Statements Of Creation in six days, and all of reality came to be. The Baal Shem Tov quotes from Psalms, where it says “Forever, O Lord, Your word stands in the heavens”. The Baal Shem Tov explains that this means that G-d is constantly Speaking those Ten Statements, and that Creation is continuous. 

But where in the Ten Statements does G-d say the word for rocks, bees, cows or houses? Or even when He says “Let us make Man”, where does He say the words that create a specific person.
