  • Summary

  • Please note: contains strong language and adult content.

The Special Relationship is a cross-continental sitcom, in which two idiot British comedians decide to ‘crack America’. Unfortunately, they have very little idea about how to go about it - or even, when pushed, what it means. But that does nothing to dent their enthusiasm....

Featuring a host of comedy talent from both sides of the Atlantic, including Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live), Fred Armisen (Portlandia), Lolly Adefope (Shrill), Sally Phillips (Veep), John Paul Reynolds (Search Party) and Jamie Demetriou (Stath Lets Flats).

The Special Relationship is written by and stars multi-award winning British comedy duo, Alex Owen and Ben Ashenden (aka ‘The Pin’).

Loved this!

This program was full of light hearted, dry humour. The cast were all very talented. Thanks Audible!

I loved this series so much!

Every minute as I listened and laughed and marveled at how clever it is, I kept thinking "and it was free!," which heightened my enjoyment. Ben and Alex are brilliant, but the person who ties this together and makes it really wonderful is Cecily Strong's character as documentarian. She weaves together what could be incongruous bits into a beautiful quilt of chaos, psychology, wit, pathos, and humor. Shout out to Fred Armisen, a perennial scene stealer. I can't recommend highly enough. Give it a try. After all... it's free! :)

Tongue in Cheek Covid Distraction

This took a minute to get into but so glad I stuck with it. if you love dry humor give a listen. Laughed out loud in quarantine and I can’t think of much I’ve found funny lately. Fred Armisen is subtly hilarious.

Great Characters- Story's Lacking

I love Cecily, Fred, Ben and Alex- no question at all about their talents - well obviously Fred and Cecily are amazing w their own accredited shows. The only thing is I got kind of bored w the same old "shtick' every episode- this also tends to be a hazard when binging things so, I guess I should've taken a break when it got a little tedious but by then I was wrapped up in housework, unable to mess w phone. I'd love to hear more maybe a some females- as noted in last episode:). I think it has potential IF they don't get too slapstick or sillier then they are.
