SONG OF THE WEEK: Converge “Hum Of Hurt” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHDx0phnOm8

“On Saturday, musician Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, posted a video on X showing him standing in the backyard of his Tennessee home as a military helicopter hovered for several seconds and another flew close by. "God Bless America and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend her," read a post accompanying the video. He also used profanities to lambaste California Gov. Gavin Newsom in the post, which has been seen more than 10 million times. President Donald Trump was asked Tuesday afternoon about the aircrew suspensions and did not appear overly concerned. “I didn’t see it, no, but I’m sure they had a good time,” he said of the video when he was asked at an executive order signing ceremony. “They probably shouldn’t have been doing it. You’re not supposed to be playing games, right?” Trump said. “I’d take a look at it. They like Kid Rock; I like Kid Rock. Maybe they were trying to defend him, I don’t know.” The Army identified the aircraft as AH-64 Apache helicopters operating in the Nashville area and said that "appropriate action will be taken if any violations are found." A military spokesperson said Monday that the helicopters flew from Fort Campbell, Kentucky, to the Nashville area. A spokesman for the 101st Airborne Division, at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, said that the flying helicopters were not related to Nashville's "No Kings" protests over the weekend and that they were "entirely coincidental" with the demonstrations.” (NBC News)

SONG OF THE WEEK: Infected Rain “Stranger” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8prBTgKYeUM

“Muse have long toyed with technology and sci-fi in their music, but now they’re doing it in real life, too. The alt-rock band just announced their new album, The Wow! Signal, by launching a special tablet over 20 miles into the atmosphere, in partnership with Sent Into Space. While that screen was above the earth, Muse premiered the music video for their new single, “Be With You.” The Wow! Signal is out June 26 via Warner. The 10-song LP, which also includes the previously released single “Unravelling,” gets its name from a famous interstellar mystery that actually happened. In 1977, a powerful 72-second radio burst was detected originating from the Sagittarius constellation with a bandwidth and intensity that suggested a possible extraterrestrial source. After discovering it, the astronomer circled the now-famous sequence “6EQUJ5” and scribbled “Wow!” beside it. The rest, as they say, is scientific pop-culture history.” (Pitchfork)

SONG OF THE WEEK: Violet Grohl “595” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3mFLalmXCA

“Live Nation has reached a settlement with the Department of Justice in its high-stakes antitrust case less than a week after the trial began, according to three people familiar with the matter. The deal requires Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster, to pay roughly $200 million in damages to participating states.

The centerpiece of the agreement is expected to be structural changes to Live Nation’s ticketing business. Under the settlement, Ticketmaster will be required to open parts of its platform to rival ticketing companies, allowing third-party sellers such as SeatGeek or Eventbrite to list tickets directly through Ticketmaster’s technology.

The deal also places new limits on the long-term exclusivity contracts Ticketmaster has historically used to lock venues into its system, cutting those agreements down to four years and allowing venues to allocate a portion of their tickets to competing platforms.

“This will revolutionize the ticketing marketplace,” said one of the people who was granted anonymity to speak candidly. “These are innovative technological solutions to a very difficult problem with prying open the marketplace.”

Live Nation did not immediately respond to a request for comment.” (Politico)

SONG OF THE WEEK: Converge “Bad Faith” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZv3ZbyZfoE

“With the announcement of Shinedown’s new single, album and tour, frontman Brent Smith did an interview with Rolling Stone and was asked about their decision to drop off Kid Rock’s “Rock The Country” festival tour. Originally Shinedown was set to play the Anderson, SC date, but they dropped off because they didn’t want to “participate in something we believe will create further division.” Shortly after, that entire date of the tour was canceled. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Smith further addressed the decision saying: “We saw infighting that we had never seen before, and for us, it was our job to diffuse it. There were certain people that were not happy about [pulling back.] I will say that there was an overwhelming amount of people that agreed with the decision.… You’re entitled to your opinion 1,000 percent in this country, and that’s one of the beautiful things about it.” (Rolling Stone)
